Karma allows you to post on certain subreddit, the more karma you have the more authority you have

There is no use to the user.

The purpose of karma is to show what the other redditors think of your submission.
It's also an indicator of whether the post is a good quality post.

Social Validation.
Means nothing...

Just because you have lower karma doesn't mean you are not a quality user.
It's just to make people go "okay this guy has a good amount of karma. Hence he be trustworthy."

It's pretty similar to Quora credits. You get more karma when your posts/comments get upvoted, and lose some when they get downvoted.

Karma is the same as the Likes and Messages on BlackHatWorld, More karma means more authority and certain subreddit requires minimum karma to post.
