Hi guys,

I just opened my subreddit as a moderator. Could you give me a few tips, what should I do with it? Put the links in the description to make it ******** backlinks? What else, beside the obvious things?

Thanks

It all depends on what you want to do with your subreddit.

SFW/NSFW?
Niche?

If you plan on growing it in a community, you should start by making subreddit rules and automoderator rules. This will prevent a lot of headache in the long run. It will also keep your subreddits relatively free of spam.

After that you should try to find other related subreddits where you can make content. Redditors tend to check the profile of the OP and will most likely see that you are active in a similar subreddit, and will want to check out. (There is a profile option where you enabled in which subreddit you are active).

Another alternative is crossposting your content to the other related subreddits ( I allow 1 crosspost of a subreddit per day. More than that and I delete it and give a mute for 3 days. As there are a few dozen posts being made by users per subreddit).

Do-follow backlink in the sidebar is a good way to get started but it will scream 'affiliate' to most people. So be careful how you do it..

To grow you sub, post on other communities related to what your sub is about. Post quality content, don't spam! Focus on increasing your Karma. On your Sub post different content from what you shared on other Subs.

Here is an example. I'm in the 'Adult Niche' I'll post part of the video on other Subs and another part of the video with more action on my SUB and add my links in the comments. DO NOT post backlinks on other subs or you 'll get banned. Hope that helps.

What do you expect from your sub?

Traffic, link, both?

Well, I haven't decided yet. So busy with building a new site, building a subreddit is probably too demanding in the moment. Maybe I will go slowly...
