What you need is some old school karma whoring.
Find a popular post, reword it a bit and post it to a different subreddit.
A well known method is to go to a popular subreddit then sort posts by TOP. Select "all time" to see historic top posts, preferrably from months/years ago so folks forgot it already. Choose a popular post from the top ones and repost it with some variation, better yet if you post to a different but related sub.

In regards to growing karma, the above repost farmings/crossposting from other sites should be sufficient as long as you title your posts well and choose good subs.
