Reddit: Is it under rated as a traffic driving tool?

Hey guys,
Recently I decided to post a link to my tumblr on reddit and the results were better than I had expected them to be.

Hoping for 1 or 2 clicks I actually managed to get nearly 100 unique visits and that went to show me that I under estimated reddit.

Not sure if anyone here is familiar with driving traffic with reddit, but with all the sections it has to offer I don't see why you guys wouldn't be?

Anyways I was just wondering if people had some advice on getting more traffic with reddit and other social media websites? I'm beginning to look into stumbleupon as well.

P.S would you advise against double posting? In a couple of days I might repost my link just to keep it fresh.

I think it depends on whether or not you're actually posting valuable content because Reddit traffic is largely determined by upvotes. If your content has value, and people are likely to upvote it then yeah, Reddit is a good traffic source in my opinion.
 
Reddit is a great traffic source if used correctly. There is pretty much a place for any niche on there

Yup. Its not underratted at all. Many Kickstarters get huge amounts of traction through there.
 
I'm hoping to find my own answer to this question. Really appreciate all the info.
 
Reddit is great to drive traffic. Here's a few tips:

- Lurk a certain subreddit. See when most users are online and post then
- Choose subreddits that allow direct link submissions
- Try to post links with interesting content and descriptive titles
- Stimulate comments on your link

If done right, you can get (at least) 2000+ visits with ease.

I also use reddit, its very Good for traffic but if you have some useful info on link.
 
it's not underrated at all, you just didn't know about it this far, many people use it successfully and in some niches it can be a killer strategy. Make sure you only post high quality stuff as most users there are really active and they can be quite mean if you're trying to work the system ;)
 
In other words,if you are smart and post quality content,you will receive nice traffic.If you post crp than you will be banned//ghosted very fast.The worst is that in Reddit you don't even realize that u are ghosted :)
 
It's only good if your content is actually good, I used it for my League of Legends youtube videos and nearly every video got over 50 000 views.
 
I say its actually a tad over-rated since a lot of stuff that is popular there doesn't translates to popularity with mainstream audiences, so YMMV depending on which demo you are targeting

Also while reddit calls itself the front page of the internet I think social feeds fit the description better
 
It's what you post - it has to be pretty graet to get upvotes etc. The closed community is against self-promotion.
 
Yep, if you approach reddit the right way, you can get thousands of visits per day.
 
Its a really hard market to tap, its more suited for indirect marketing and building up a brand.

This right here. It takes a while to figure this out but the returns are well worth it. Posting the right thing at the right time can provide exponential returns. One time, I got over 7k visits in about an hour as my post went into the top 10 of a somewhat popular sub. The residue traffic kept coming for the next few days.
 
be careful with reddit, sometimes they love you, sometimes they hate you. ive postedthe same thing in a specific reddit twice, the first time they ripped me apart, the second time they all loved me. really strange
