It seems so yeah. You could always give your own (affiliate/etc) post a silver for extra traction/CTR.

Reddit is selling coins, because:
1) They get support when a member purchases them
2) Some users want to give more than just an "upvote" to the post or comment, so they award the poster with silver/gold/platinum
3) Awards encourage recipients to keep posting quality content.

hmm kinda like useless like another member claim., so I give coins to those upvote my link like a give a like , but on reddit is use coins if I got you.

I always buy some and leave them for comments I like because when, NOT if you get spamlisted by reddit, you tell em, "I am a real user who even has bought coins and gives awards to peoples posts, can you unlimit me?"
