Do backlinks from within reddit posts to your cash site. Help with google rank?
I see a bump in the acquisitions / social, area of google analytics.

But, it seems like google would sniff these out as being cans of spam sooner or later.

It's complicated.

Some are others aren't.

look at this screen shot: http://imgur.com/19CdzOQ Moz pluging for Chrome that highlights ******** (or nofollow) links, as you can see some of these external links are dofallow, but if you go to a small sub reddit, with almost no activity (not that many votes) their links will be nofollow.

I can't say how it works, I haven't study it much really, but: links (post) with a lot of positive activity is ********, but links with negative or nonexistent votes/comments are nofollow.

This could be a good way to avoid spam.

i wouldnt worry about nofollow
if the subreddit is relevant then it'l give you a little sumthin

but in terms of scaling/spamming reddit for lb, that is riskier

regardless of it being nofollow, if it's a relevant link then I'd go for it
but yea if you're just spamming your link all over reddit, obviously google gonna be like

you can embed links in your comments on reddit and i've seen my competitors benefit from this kind of link, i think its worth it especially in a niche related sub. only thing is getting the comment page indexed

You have to be careful with reddit and always keep the post count linking to your site to 1/10 maximum (they might ban you from a subreddit if you post too much from 1 account to 1 site in particular so you have to mix it up to stay below the radar)

Once you get banned you cannot really come back to the subreddit you posted to because they will recognize your site and ban you again so think twice before blasting a board...

I think they're necessary. You need links on social bookmarking sites like reddit. I would just go black hat and purchase a Syndwire blast on a bunch of social sites to get your site indexed on those sites. It's not gonna get you a google penalty but you need those signals in order to rank these days.
