I'm not trying to replace reddit. I'm looking for an alternative just in case reddit goes the way of Tumblr.

Reddit is the new Tumblr. The owner said he isn't caving to the API tools, so the blackout is here to stay. With 7K subreddits blacked out, what is the point? It really stopped being okay over there after the blowup with the banning via COVID.

Tumblr died the day they decided to ban adult content. This is something that directly affected users.
The issue with Reddit is over it's API pricing. Besides developers, this doesn't affect users. If anything, it's a mild annoyance for users who have to switch over to the official app. Users who are hooked on the dopamine Reddit provides and will still using it no matter how much they "protest".
I don't know anyone in real life who's upset about this or genuinely even cares. Reddit is free and the API change doesn't affect my day to day. I just look at what's going on in the world and go about my day. And so do millions of other users.
