How effective are Reddit ads? This is my first time using this type of ad; I've been running ads on Facebook before and now want to expand my business. Is it complicated?

You never know once you try, just give it a try and for starting keep your budget low for testing.

Not very effective from what we tested. Tiktok and Google adwords are yielding better performance. However you can test and see, maybe it will work for your business.
Effectiveness depends on audience targeting. However, expectations should not be set too high.

Reddit ads are a bit different from Facebook ads. People on Reddit usually don’t react well to ads, especially if it’s your first time.
In my experience, organic reach works much better here - being part of real discussions, answering questions, and letting people discover your brand naturally. It builds trust and feels less pushy.
I’d suggest starting with organic activity first to understand Reddit, and then think about ads later if needed.

I've started testing it, and so far the setup is relatively simple, not as complicated as I imagined.

While it doesn’t compete with Facebook or Google in scale, it’s a stronger fit for your target customer segment.

Reddit ads can work but they are picky
You need tight targeting (you better setup subs you want to reach manually, don't use any of Reddit autosuggestions you'll burn budget just like I did) and native style creatives or CTR is trash
More setup than FB and scale is slower but quality traffic if done right. And very cool retargeting option, one of the best on the market
