I tested a physical product using free traffic on Reddit and it worked great — are Reddit Ads effective? Can I target specific subreddits?

I have a physical product that I promoted organically on Reddit (through posts and comments), and it performed surprisingly well, generating good engagement and a few sales.

Now I’m considering running a paid Reddit Ads campaign but I have a couple of questions:

* Are Reddit Ads actually effective for driving sales of physical products?
* Can I target **specific subreddits** that are directly related to my niche?

Yeah, Reddit Ads can work well especially if your product already got traction organically. The key is how relevant your targeting is.


✅ Yes, you can target specific subreddits but only if they have enough traffic. Not all subs are available in the ads dashboard, and niche ones with low activity might not show up.


✅ Effectiveness? Mixed. If your ad blends in (native style, Reddit tone, not too polished), it performs better. CTRs are decent, but conversion depends on your landing page and product-market fit.


Tip: Run small tests ($10–$20/day), try different creatives, and avoid looking like a typical “ad.” Reddit users hate that. Think like a helpful post, not a Facebook ad.
 
I've had mixed results, great engagement but low conversions.
 
Can you tell me, do you directly post your affiliate link, or do you use your landing page or blog, and what is your process for posting on Reddit?
 
The best way to know is testing, I don't think it will bring amazing results, but you can have a good surprise, at least give a try
