I noticed desktop traffic is almost dead but mobile gives better reach.

No, they're not! They're working just fine. Reddit Ads has improved a lot since 2020. Today you can target many different subreddits with different bidding strategies in order to reach a profitable campaign.

To OP - consider raising your bid if you're paying for CPC. Or your targeting is simply too narrow.
