That sucks, dude. Reddit's pretty strict with shadowbans, and they don't really send a heads-up. As for appeals, it's tough—Reddit doesn't offer much direct support for this. You can try messaging the admins or using the ‘contact us’ page, but chances are slim. Might be time to start fresh if nothing works.
agreed on the r/shadowban sub , i only saw rare instances of people getting unbanned, its not really a pattern to it other than "admins made a mistake, or they blamed thier filter sensitivity". they started to lock down posts to prevent people from talking about thier bans, go figure.
since its thier AI moderation doing most of the shadowbanning, i think they (admins) automatically ignore them(banned by AI), and plus if you had more than 1 account that was part of the purges, they ignore those too, of course this is completely arbitrary too. they arnt going to look at every appeal that was "shadowbanned" incorrectly, its just too much for such a small team of admins. theres also the issue of getting rebanned down the line too, filters dont automatically update that you are in the clear, especially if its specific to a sub. shadowban used to be much "less common" than it should be, now it just outstrips sitewide regular bans, or subreddit bans. as a way to cull the numbers on reddit.
Not sure about whether this is AI or not, but what OP shares is not unknown. It happened to me recently where a 3+ year old account with over 1000 comment karma was banned out of the blue just because I used a Nord VPN server. I've used many of their servers over the years with multiple accounts and had 0 problems, but it looks like they've flagged some server IPs recently, and if you jump on any of these, the accounts are nuked instantly. So until OP shares more details on usage, IP etc. we can't really tell what caused it.
