Just wondering if anyone knows the affect on seo of a recurring subdomain. E.g. I want I register my company name "intenseIM.com". What if I then add a whole lot of subdomains as web 2.0 properties like this:

"dogstairs.intenseIM.com"

"frozenpipes.intenseIM.com"

"spiderbites.intenseIM.com"

Etc.

Would this affect the PR for these sites considering the unrelated and repeating subdomain? Would it be much different after penguin (EMD demotion)?

Regards,

Ben.

No one? I'm thinking that this would be a great way to save money on urls.

Maybe posted this in the wrong section.

It wouldn't affect it at all. asubdomain is essentially a different site.
Think about wordpress.com, livejournal and blogspot. They aren't affected by the subdomains. I wouldn't host porn there though

Ah, thanks for that.

Seems like an obvious way to save money on domains.

each subdomain has it's own pagerank, but if you build quality sites on them, you can boost your target site's seo with backlinks, hits and keywords.
