Recreating and moving a Wordpress website?

Use permanent redirect .... & wild card redirect via .htaccess so that existing website links points to new website links.

Finally, move your website in Google Search Console.

I've been kinda busy in the past 2 days, couldn't work on the site much. But all in all, I have some good news and some bad news.

Captcha on registration form

This is an older issue, where I tried to add a captcha on the registration form. I failed. I decided to let it go because the site has like a custom registration form, so maybe we don't get those spam registrations like we would on a wordpress default registration form. But if we do, I guess I'll hire someone to put a captcha on the registration form.

Set the "Add funds" page to only be available for logged in users

I managed to do this. Just because I don't want it available to everyone to view. I also removed it from the sitemap and added a "noindex" tag to it.

I didn't manage to make the redirect back to the "Add funds" page after a successful login, but never mind, not too important.

Check to make sure the downloadables on the site aren't publicly visible/accessible

All I wanted was for people to not be able to download zip files from the site using the direct link, but to be able to download them if they receive them in a private message or order page on the site.

On the bright side, I don't think somebody can easily find all the downloadable URLs on the site, so it's unlikely someone can just go in and download everything. And then even if they did, it's not like there's some super important information there or anything like that. Even if that one wizard hacker weirdo finds and downloads all the zip files from the site using direct URLs, not really an issue.

But again, like with the recaptcha and the add funds page, if I ever have money to burn, I'll hire someone to close this too.

Not gonna lie, it bothers me to leave these 3 loose ends. But none of them makes or breaks anything, so I'm just gonna put my head down a little bit and try to live with it. And most importantly move the fuck on, because I wasted too many hours on this shit and I just can't get it done.

Stuff left to do:

Check sitemap/webmaster tools (google, bing, yandex)
Delete the other sites from the other domain, and the database/user
Save the files for the new site theme in the appropriate folder
Do a final backup for the new site (site+database)
Save the final backup for the old live site int he appropriate folder
Clean up all the residual crap and cum stains that were left all over the place on my lap top during this entire process (unnecessary screenshots, and databases, and files, etc)

Hopefully in a day or two I can complete all of these and consider the site completed, done and done.

I just noticed my wordpress feed wasn't redirecting to my feedburner feed. I also noticed the site wasn't redirecting http to https. I got the codes for both from my old site's htacess file, put the codes in the new site, and now these are both fixed.

The theme had this margin-bottom for p by default, but I remove that shit. How dare you insert spaces and things like that. This always makes it harder to write blog posts. I insert an empty line, and suddenly the line is double. You'll say, don't insert the empty line and let the CSS do it. But then when I don't want an empty line, the css just adds one, and I'm trying to add CSS to remove it like an asshole. No good. I removed that.

But in private messages it's a little hard to insert paragraphs, so I added some css to make those look nicer.

Checked the site's default wordpress login, register and lost your password pages. They're all set to "noinded". Good, check.

Ok, this is done. I'm just left with some bookmarks in my browser that I need to remove. But I'll get to that as soon as I post this, so we're as good as done on this one.

The reason these keep dragging on is because, for the first one, I kinda hate digging through webmaster tools. And for the second one, once I delete the sites and databases they're gone, and if then I realize I forgot to check something, reuploading a site again is a pain in the ass.

But I'll get to them, I'll get to them, it's 5 minutes to 12, we're as good as done with the site

Changed the default profile photo for users. The one that was on by default was super generic, and I added something cooler. Seeing that generic photo just screams "unfinished site" haha.

I checked the sitemap on the site, to make sure only the stuff I want included is in there. I removed many sitemaps, we're left with 6 sitemaps.

We have:

1. Blog posts + homepage
2. Pages (FAQ, Privacy Policy, Contact, Homepage, etc) - I removed many junk pages, left only a total of 8 pages that I feel is good to show to google and the search engines
3. Offers Pages (all offers individually, and the "All Offers" page)
4. Blog Post Categories
5. Offers Categories
6. Authors/Sellers pages (these are also kind of like categories, but not really. Anyway I just make the choice to show these to the search engines too)

I went on Google webmaster tools, and it showed the http version of my site on top, and the https version down at the bottom. When I clicked on the https version, it did like a verification with the tag on my site. Since I have the tag, it verified fine. Then I checked the sitemap, and google already updated all the sitemaps. However, google did them days ago, before I cleaned them up. So I submitted the sitemap again.

I got:

Google will periodically process it and look for changes. You will be notified if anything goes wrong with it in the future.

Okay, cool Google, cool, you do that.

Then I went to Bing, and they didn't update the sitemap like google did. So I clicked to re-submit sitemap. Okay, I hope they take care of that. I won't be checking it again to confirm, because whatever enough time wasted on this SEO CRAAAAAP

Then I went to Yandex, and they wanted to send me an SMS to let me login. Jeez man, why you annoying me? Anyway, good for me I'm always on level with everything verified and with me having access to all the phone numbers and emails for everything always. I logged in and I get a notification on top:

You are using an old browser version. We recommend installing a modern browser

Jeez man, take a fucking chill pill Yandex. Sure I'm using an older version of Firefox, but not that old. It's just a few versions old. Fuck off!!!

When I got in there and clicked on sitemaps, I had to solve a very unpleasant captcha that was hard to read. The solution was "volatilebum". Yeah, well, fuck you Yandex you're making me volatile now with your bullshit. I can't believe you man. Stop torturing me!!!

WHEN I FINALLY GOT TO THE SITEMAPS PAGE...

Click to the right of the source URL to send the Sitemap to be recrawled without waiting for automatic downloads. The bot will access the file within 3 days.
You can use this feature up to 10 times per month per host.

So I clicked the button next to the main sitemap link, and I guess they'll recrawl it now and update it. Like with Bing above, we're done here. But unlike with Bing above, we've been tortured to get to it, ugh...

Okay guys, we're done here. All that's left is for me to delete the old site from the other domain and the database user/table for the old site. That's easy, as good as done.

I'll leave this for the end, as a little reminder for myself. If I ever have money to burn:

1. Add recatcha on register page
2. Prevent zip file downloads by direct URL for logged in and logged out users, but allow in messages and orders
3. Make login page redirect back to "Add Funds" page if the login page was visited from the "Add Funds" page

Done and done
