My website has always ranked in the top 5 for a particular keyword. It has quality content, design, and is updated frequently. One dreadful late September morning I wake up to a Google search results page that is completely different than what I have previously remembered. New sites I have seen in the 2nd/3rd pages mysteriously moved up to the first page. My site was completely removed from the search results. It's nowhere to be found. The website is not flagged as I rank for other keywords, but for this one MAJOR keyword, I am no where there.

Does anyone know a solution for me? I really need to increase my ranking back to where it was.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Try to get best quality back links from high authority sites. All my votes go for long tail keywords and guest posts. leave that exact keyword and go for long tail keyword which covers the exact keyword. for example if your keyword is "dog food" then go for long tail keywords like "dog food reviews" or "dog food brands". we have already done this for our site and we succeeded. This will really helps you. Don't try to build back links in over night.

all the best friend .. :)

Your EMD is still missing from the SERPs? All of mine recovered naturally weeks ago.

My EMD is missing from the SERPs for 1 keyword. I am ranked #1 for a variation of the keyword, but not #1 for the keyword itself. For example, I am ranked #1 for "dog food brands" but not anywhere to be found for "dog brands".

What does your backlink portfolio look like?

Do you have inbound links with the EMD keyword as the anchor? I believe the EMD update wasn't a penalty but was simply to remove any power that EMDs previously had. So for example, if the only reason you ranked for 'dog food' was because your site is dogfood.com you now need to build some links with 'dog food' as the anchor because the domain no longer carries any weight.

It was an interesting update. I only have two microniche EMDs myself as it isn't something I really got into. One is in the 'how to make money' niche and the other is something obscure. The money making site got nailed whereas the other one is still #1 even to this day with almost no backlinks.

I did link exchange with about 15 other related websites with the keyword. I also bought 2 SEO packages here on BHW but they didn't help.
