Hello everyone, my first post here :)
So few months ago I started my first micro niche site, i was aiming at 3 word keyword, lets say keyword is "black hat world" and after 2 months i got to the first place and was earning 20-30 euros per month. I wanted exactly that, i didn't want to take too big bite at start. But before three months, out of nowhere, i get placed in 2nd position for "black hat" which got me around 150 euros a month. And same like that from Sept. 29. i'm not even in first 100 for "black hat" and i'm on 4th position for "black hat world". I checked, there was an update for Panda on 18.9. and actually a lot of my prior competition got hit too.

I already started putting new content, writing new articles, but i've read people writing 100 word articles pointing to the main article and similar strategies. What would you recommend? And how about backlinks?

Site is made in plain two column html, should i switch to some cms? Its going to be really complicated to keep adding new articles like this..

And last thing, that was bothering me almost all this time is pretty high bounce rate and CTR.
    BR was around 80%
CTR avg. is around 9%, but the last month avg. was like 15%. Does this seem suspicious to google?
Should i do something about this too?

Does your website happen to be an EMD? Because the EMD update hit around that time as well.

If it was a panda hit, then the best you can do is de-optimize your site a bit and add more content, as well as inter linking your pages well. I'm pretty sure that's the only way out of it (that and some luck). If you do it right, then your site should technically come back on the next panda refresh, once it's evaluated by the algo again.

    Good luck!

I just did a bit more research on new EMD algo and yes, its definitely it! Exactly the same date, same "symptoms", this is even worse than i thought. I guess this requires major changes on the site.
Thanks a lot for the help!

Seems that EMD's are getting a rougher ride than other sites. There's plenty that are still doing fine though, sure you'll get it fixed!

I'm pretty sure EMD is not a penalty, it has just lost some value. Or am i wrong?
I'm willing to fight back, since it seems to me that current competition from the first page is even weaker now than it was.

The EMD update hit sites with shallow content. How many words are your articles? Are the articles over-optimized?

Articles are well written and all of them are minimum 500 words, but the problem is that all of my MN sites are under 10 articles. The articles might be a bit over-optimized but i have the feeling that backlinking is bad, since it lacks variety in anchor text.
Interesting thing though, i'm using WP for my other MNS (also EMD), they are all on first page for their keyword but they were still not hit.

To confuse the issue there was a Panda update a few days before the EMD update and on Oct 7th a Penguin refresh.

1st was the drop in your ranking around Sept 28th or after Oct 7th?

If you think your problem is the EMD or Panda, double-up on the articles. Also, check that you don't have any duplicate content due to someone ripping off your articles.

Its definitely EMD, all my rankings dropped on Sept. 28th and from then i didn't see any other movements. I made a mistake in the title because i didn't know about the EMD algo change then.

I've already started extending articles and adding new ones.

I know its still early, but did anyone manage to recover from emd so far?
