Hye guys im looking for some recommendation on what laptop to get, I would mainly use for office duties (word, excel, email) + IM stuff as well (SEO Programs, Photoshop, Notepad ++) and as well I would be looking for some nice screen to watch some flicks on it.

Range I guess its around $1k or less.

Some things to consider:

Screen size. I think bigger is better.
Do you want separate keypad for accounting work, etc...?

Don't get memory or SSD HD upgrade from factory, as they can be had cheaper and at higher quality if you buy them yourself.

Lenovos are the most durable laptop made, and will stand up to extremely heavy use indefinately, but the are $1,200 minimum. Except for Toughbooks, but they start at $2,000 or more.

Some laptops (Lenovos in particular) not only have an extended capacity battery, but also an additional "battery slice" for extra-long use.

You can get a good Toshiba Satellite for $450 at Walmart with Win8.

Buying used is a REALLY bad idea. Stolen, corrupt software/malware, broken hardware, failing hard drive, etc...

I would get an i-series processor. i3 is good enough, but i5 is better. i7 is best, but it's not worth more than say an extra $50.00, as you get diminishing returns meaning pay for for less.

The more RAM, the better.

BTW laptops suck and I hate them, but that is my own highly personal bias. I would have a desktop with a BIG HUGE monitor for indoors office work, and would only use a laptop if I absolutely HAD to travel. You get more performance with higher reliability, more durability and for less money than a laptop. Repair costs are also dramatically lower.

Girls are nice.

Man thanks for your advice, what happens is that im constantly moving from my office to my apt and other locations where I stay so a durable laptop its what im looking forward, battery life its not really and issue because ill have an electricy plug 9/10 times.

Links and specific models would be great!

Dell Precision is the BEST laptop I've ever used. Been using for nearly 2 years and I have never got angry with it at all.
It has never failed me nor lagged.

The current model I'm using is M4500. Stats is i5 Duo 2.6 GHZ, 3M; 4GB DDR3 RAM; Quadro FX1500.
Though it is just average stats, it has never ever lagged nor failed me. Love it.

I'm planning to get the latest M4700 soon.

So get Dell Precision if possible.

Where do you live? Prices can vary a lot from country to country. That way someone from your country can give you a better advice.

Go for i5, 4-8GB ram, 1GB video card and 1TB HDD, 14-16in screen.

Dell Inspiron N7720

3rd Generation i7, quad core, ivy bridge
17" Screen - anti glare.
8GB Ram memory DDR3
GeForce bla bla 2GB dedicated
750GB HDD
Aluminium housing.

Very good price...

I know I'll get flamed, but I cant resist

Retina MacBook Pro

Sub 1k - Macbook Air

Run SEO on VPS. Theres some really good $5/m about

I'd be inclined to recommend Lenovo.. agreed they are expensive but its value for money. I have a T61, which is still serving me well since 2008, despite using is close to 24/7 all the while. Had to change battery just once and keyboard (lots of spilled food).

Dell would come closest especially if you don't want to spend too much but want to have some extra features like an i5 processor.

Get a Samsung Ultrabook,

Its the best one around :)

Samsung is pretty much owning several key areas of the tech market right now. I remember a time when they were pretty much only known for making unbreakable brick phones lol

The series 9 is (in my opinion) one of the best laptops around right now, but that's a bit over your budget so I'd say the series 7 15.6" would be perfect.

I agree with this. One of my client's bought an old (WinXP, and used) Dell Precision for occasional use because she didn't want to drop $1,200 on another Lenovo, and it seems like a reliable work horse. I only mess with them when they break, or when they need updates, and I haven't spent much time with that one, which is a good thing, if you think about it.

Another thing I'll mention is, that if you get Win8, GET A TOUCH SCREEN. The whole purpose of Win8's existance is to advnace into touch screen technology. One client got a "deal" from Toshiba and bought a laptop direct from the factory for a very good price, and then hands it to me to make it usable. (See my "http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/blackhat-lounge/518604-windows-8-piece-shit-heres-solution.html" rant...)

Then we discover that her new Toshiba with Win8 (and all the problems that go with it) doesn't have a touch screen. I think Toshiba has delibarately hid this information from their customers. They don't ask about touch screen preferences in the ordering process, and that specific model number isn't even listed in their support section, so you can't find out what the specs are, in order to find out if it's a touch screen or not.

I'm mixed on the issue/value of touch screen. I think in some ways they make things easier, but in others it's too easy to "fat finger" your way into places you don't want to go, and they are hard to get out of. Particularly with Win8. It's all based on what you do, and what kind of learning curve you are willing to endure. I'm VERY selective about my learning curves, as there is nothing worse than spending time learning how to do something that you simultaneously discover is an inefficient use of time (meaning there is a faster, easier way that requires no learning at all).

A classic example of this is that it is faster & easier to make a phone call asking a simple question ("What's that address again?"), vs. fucking around with text characters for 20 minutes.
