I'm looking to start a small blog where I share my programming knowledge. I really struggle with finding a nice theme for this purpose. I don't need much. Just a clean & simple looking blog, but most themes I see are completely overloaded or don't work for my kind of blog (they seem to be more targetted towards travel bloggers, photographers,...)

Any ideas?

I'm okay with spending money on a theme as long as it's $50 or less.

There's a lot of simple themes you could always add custom CSS/plugins as needed. I used 'hello elementor' theme which is dead simple. Then add elementor and build custom looking themes in like an hour. You can also grab evanto elementor theme plugin which has lots of free themes and can delete the plugin after loading your theme.

Use litespeed to load the CSS and js into a file, minimize, and async. Should be able to get it to load under 3. Anyways might not be the best solution but it is fast to build.

Interesting approach, will look into that!
Last time I tried Litespeed + Litespeed Caching, there was no measurable performance increase compared to my usual Apache + WP Rocket setup.

Schema Free edition?
Good suggestion, but would need a good amount of customization to get it to look like what I imagined. Will keep in mind for future projects tho, I can definitely see me using this.

GeneratePress is awesome.
Clean, light and simple. :)
Just tried it out, it looks very optimized (code-wise) and the demos are pretty nice. Probably getting this one. Thank you! :)

I don't mean to sound rude or judgy, but if you're going to share progamming knowledge don't you think it's more convincing to make your own website without WP?

Fair point, but I'm not a frontend developer, so potential employers won't care much I suppose.
It's also not really going to be part of my resume, I got github for that. More like a blog about stuff that I'm interested in / stuff that I think is worth sharing.

I just shared the pro version a few weeks ago on BHW, maybe it will become handy ;)

Coming in clutch as always, huh?
Probably going to purchase this one tho once I get started. It really is a good theme, they deserve a few bucks for that :)
