PS: I think it is a good idea to compile a list of reliable hosting.. Let see how it go with the compilation, and maybe later can make pool.
 
Advertise on BHW
I use Hostgator and Hawkhost, both work well for me.

One thing Hawkhost has (that Hostgator dosn't) is the "R1 Soft" application in the cPanel, which keeps an automatic daily backup of your sites (for up to 1 month). Big advantage in case something happens, for example: sites geting hacked.
 
been using HG for 4 years now, had problems rarely and gets resolved quickly.
 
As other have said, you can't go wrong with Hostagator.

ASmallOrange is another top notch hosting company.
 
Generally I'd recommend you Hostagator because its one of the best hosting providers but due to the lack information you've stated I can accurately help you.It totally depends on your website and the contents of it.
 
I'm with Hostgator. They're very reliable for the most part. Their support line is good too.
 
Hawkhost is the highest rated fastest best value host around. I searched for 8 min on google read tons of reviews they were all awesome 5 stars.
