You're missing the person sitting on bedrock surrounded by lava. And the guy on top is going to be attacked by mobs if he doesn't get into shelter before sundown.

Or is this not about minecraft?

The guy on top is probably just thinking how much to charge these other guys for a rope to climb out of their holes
