Hey all,

Does anyone know of a "whitehat" (as in not illegal/hacking) method for reclaiming twitter usernames which have been registered and not used?

The account I want is from 2013, it's sent 1 tweet when it was registered and it seems dormant from then on.

I've tried tweeting the account to see if they would give it up but there has been no reply...

Does twitter have an "official" method for recycling usernames? How do I apply for this...

Thanks

If you have a company named after the username I think u could claim it. Otherwise I don't think that's possible

Never heard of this being possible either.

Is there a website/ domain that's forgotten on the bio?

I've claimed some big 30K follower accounts that have been forgotten, purely because the domain dropped ;)

They used to have a reclaim process, but I think they've basically just taken it down to trademark and other types of infringement/impersonation. Even with their old reclaim process, they often declined it because the person would still use the account for reading or it would be logged into a phone app.

How bad do you want it? Because the case is what others said above, Twitter doesn't release usernames normally. Your only chance if you get the username/term trademarked and file a trademark violation.

it is not possible until the username expire and it could take up years
