Reciprocal links are detrimental to your site's rankings and easy to spot by Google. So focus on one way links or three way links instead. In a three way linking setup, you link to the site of someone from one of your sites and they link back to your money site which is different from the site from which you linked to them.

Better avoided, they have long been outdated. Its a lot easier to obtain one way links then reciprocals.

Reciprocal links re not bad in and of themselves. Any time you can get a reciprocal link that is both related and from a website that has higher authority, you should get it.
If its not related, don't.
Don't go overboard with them either, but a few recips will not hurt your seo.

Link only to relevant pages that you believe supplement the purpose of your site. Make sure your link quantity is not unruly - if you have 300 links just thrown on a page, users trying to find a specific link will get confused. Try to add value to your links and make sure they are are manually reviewed.If you really want to do it right, don't make a links page for the sake of reciprocal link exchanges. Instead, try to link to helpful sites naturally and ask them to reciprocate the link.
