Recent Google Updates: How Does it Affect Me?

I've heard there's recently been a lot of changes in the new Google updates that took place March of 2011. From what I've read, Google has been targeting the 'content farms' in this new update. The main point of this update was to eliminate spammy results. Is this correct?

Also, if this is true, does this mean that me, the average Joe, has a better chance at ranking than I did before? I will no longer have to compete so heavily with the blackhatters and Xrumer users provided I have high quality content. Is this true?

How has the update treated you? Please include details like whether your articles were unique and if you use(d) blackhat techniques or not. If this is what I think it is, I think it's good news! Thoughts welcome

Im a web designer in a SEO office. All our sites have been flying around like crazy, Page 1, then page 5, 10, 2... Pretty much pissing everyone off. Lol

i think the new google change is focusing more on relevant quality content and not quantity.

Well, I just got bumped from page 1 to 6 and getting outanked by sites that duped my unique content. Not sure how to proceed right now. Maybe it's time to go evil hat on poodle.

Seems to be a good thing from my point of view, i've always gone for quality over quantity so both my traffic and rankings are up.

About time, was fed up of getting beaten by people who'd blasted a spun article onto hubpages and thrown thousands of low quality backlinks at it.
