Reason to cloak - am I correct?

Ok, from what I understand the reason why you'd cloak as an affiliate is to get more love from Search Engines (SE)?

1. SE's don't like affiliate sites right?
2. Also - visitors (buyers) also are more likely to click through your domain-associated links

Am I correct with these two assumptions?

Well it depends. Search engines can track cloaked affiliate links even though it's harder. The best thing would be to add a nofollow attribute as well in your affiliate link. This way it will be harder for the search engine to follow your affiliate link.

Another major reason that you mask the affiliate links is because the users won't be able to check if you use an affiliate link when they click.

i agree whit this the only problem is a nofollow will be seen by the search engines to.
and are easy to follow.

basic thing too solve this is very easy:
Just make a map in your domain put in your redirects (afflinks) in this map.
you can do this by htaccess or varius plugins.
EXCLUDE the map from being indexed so now you have 100% save redirects which aren't being followed by google or any other search engines. since these links are excluded from indexing.

As a bonus you can add a nofollow but since nofollow always leak its just a extra.
Now your afflinks plus website is seo save.

On a tutorial on how to do it there are plenty on google.
for example wordpress has redirection plugin (google it) and you will find a easy and save way to make and hide your aff links. whiteout leaking affecting your own seo.

So If I am using paid traffic for a mobile CPI would I need take this step?

I'm not looking for seo imact on the site.

I can't see any reason why you would need to in the scenario you are describing here. If you have a paid traffic source that leads to profitability on a mobile CPI ... it should be converting for the advertisers too, so unless you intend to hide your traffic from the network/advertiser then I do not see why you would need/want to cloak this traffic.

Any pointers on how to do this manually? I want to at least try to implement this on a Ghost blog.
