Reason for a Ban

I think it will be a good idea to add the reason in the signature that why a member was banned. This will save people's time and the no one will create a new thread again asking why the member "X' was banned.

Good suggestion. It's up to the mods to do what's best.
 
No. It just causes arguments about rules and will lead to more members questioning moderator decisions.

Just rest assured that members are not banned without reason, and that decisions are made for your own protection and for the good of the forum as a whole.
 
If mods have to give reasons it leads to arguments and more trouble. The feature of telling when a temp banned member will be back is a big improvement.
 
When someone is banned it is natural to be curious as to why. There is always a reason behind the ban but it is not necessary for us to know why, if they have been banned it means they have broken a rule, simple. The mods do a pretty good job but if they disclosed the reason why someone was banned it would lead to endless debate and argument.

This forum is not a democracy, it is part of a business so discussing why somebody has been banned in a public forum could have legal implications.

put simple its this is bhw's forum
yes we are part of it, but not in the way its run or the way
rules are applied. often members will be asked for ideas but that's it.

when you go to some one else's house you play by there rules

Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't. It is pretty resource intensive to drop through the DB and remove a member's threads, posts and accounts automatically. Plus it can leave holes in threads and typically leads to more questions, like "what happened to xyz thread/post", etc. If it is an obvious spammer we will usually do this, but leaving the threads/posts up provides examples of what is not acceptable behavior. This reduces the number of "why was herpderp banned?" threads, and gives people less of an out when they say they didn't know something was against the rules.

Regarding the OP's question: there are a number of reasons why we don't make the reason for a ban public knowledge, most of which I won't go into. The legal aspect and implications of our member's behavior is a very important part of it however, as we have a global user base that we must cater to.
