So Im playing around with micro niche finder to find some niches that are worth building a site for. From what ive read a good niche to go into is one that has 3K or more searches a month, has around 50K pages in google, and has less than 10K pages with keyword in quotes.

Now playing around a bit how come every search I do has more page results with keyword in "quotes" than a regular search? for example

    keyword 164,xxx results
    keyword in "quotes" 905,xxx
    keyword using intitle:"keyword" 470

Im confused as to how to read this data, how come in quotes I always get way more results? Also with a broad search the first page is nextag.com/"keyword" How does nextag automatically be the first result using their search engine where there is a website with the exact keyword in the domain rank 8? Any suggestions to help me understand this or do I just have it all wrong?

A lot of that stats is not accurate. I personally wouldn't build a site for a
keyword that has less than 20k searches.

How are they not accurate? And I want to start small with a search thats around 3K and see if I can make it to the top, then try bigger searches as I learn more.

You are going to get hundreds of mixed opinions about what is best and what isn't best. It's so confusing when you just want a straight answer.

Many people have very different goals with keywords. Some want to make a few bucks a day while others won't mess with keywords unless they can make significantly more than that.

What I would suggest is sticking with your numbers and seeing what happens. If you get results, keep sticking with that formula. If you don't, change it up a bit.

Don't forget, how difficult it is to make it to the top is related only to how much competition there is and how strong is their position. It has nothing to do with how many searches are done each month for that keyword.

Ya I guess that is true, never really though of it that way. Lets say I have a keyword and amazon and nextag are the top 2 spots, is it even worth trying to go for?
