Real SEO issue I need your help guys.

How about this:
I`m going to talk about two websites of mine:
One is on a really easy niche, not really a lot of competition, not many valuable backlinks on competition, not even same niche (in fact, No. 1 has only some hundred drupal links that seem to have come from a single blast, spun content.) I`ve made a better website, great on-site SEO, unique content, hard internal interlinking, great backlinks from edu, same niche, high pr, a lot of diversity. I`m sitting on page 2 for a while.
The second website is one that was actually made as a buffer. Has some spun content and some scrapebox blasts. about 1000 backlinks from which only 50 or so are ********. Now the second site is on page one for 2 keywords of over 10.000 exact match searches and no 1 place for a lot of keywords, raging up to 2900 monthly searches. Now this just messed my whole idea of SEO and even though I`ve ranked a few websites in my time it really funks my SEO thoughts.

Can you tell me how and why would that happen ? I know the backlinks on both websites, they are both mine, so everything is as is, no hidden data to work with.

The websites are both 5 months old, the one that is ranking currently has 1 month of continuous ranking, no changes.

Maybe Big G has seen your strategy. The other one may be more naturel if you get my drift.

nothing natural about all the links coming from a single blast Anyhow, I`ve spent a lot of work on the first one, with generic backlinks, anchor backlinks, keyword and long tails, niche related backlinks and so forth.. I`m really stuck )

The second one will sink soon. Watch out with blasts for long term projects.

it`s not a long term project, it was supposed to be a buffer site. I`ve stoped blasting it now that it`s ranking and I`ve added monetization. But I`m surprised about it..

Buffer like Tier 1? Such a bad idea. People are going 3 tiers deep long time ago.

Well if i can give my 2 cents. G is really F****** up in the netherlands. Just one guy ranking 1 for all my keywords. It is just a Great Big Slotmachine sometimes....

google doesn't use the same system for non-english sites, in the local google (google.fr for example) a lot of techniques that used to work still work there. some language are very very hard to deal with. for example, for french keywords you NEED to do grammatical or synthax errors (willingly) in order to rank for the correct keywords. so google.fr doesn't use the same algo and is wayy backward compared to google usa.

Perhaps some other posters will have a little more insight on the matter, but what you're talking about seems to be far from unique in terms of people's SEO experience. Purely and simply, sometimes page rankings defy all analysis. I've had sites and blog posts rank far higher than I thought they really merited and others far lower - and I'm no closer to working out why than I was when it happened.

I've seen sb blasts to a money site...not even tier 1, via fiverr, give an amazing boost...this within the last month, and still holding rank...I don't have an answer, but you aren't the only one to see this happening.
