Life has been less than friendly to me recently and I'm dead broke. Every method I can see here takes money to get going so I thought ebay could be a good way to sell some items laying around my house in order to make the cash I desperately need. I was always cool and content working for a bakery with my friend but not so long ago we had a big issue which I told everyone in my welcome thread. So I hope this is the right place to express my business plan. Ebay can be a nice place to sell some of my items to get what I need to get started in my online career so I hope it all works out. Not feeling well right now and could use your warm embrace!! This is my time to shine and I want to rise above the shollow hole I call home. Do you guys have any ebay selling tips for me? I have a couple of items to sell like a hat, sofa, and spare tire. Maybe I can list the items on a local listing site but the economy is down and then ebay has so many more money spenders. Even now I think maybe my collection of dvds will sell for a cheap price and I can cash out!

I can't sell my personal items on fiverr for that quick bucks! Really need that money now and I am not the best at providing services. Maybe a suggestion for me to sell on fiverr? I am up for it I suppose but it seems scary to offer something on that marketplace.

Well you have to think about the cost of shipping, so to sell a sofa or spare tire would cost a shit ton to ship and they buyer would be better off just buying locally at their used tire or local furniture store, so for heavier items, realistically you're better off going local or just put "pick up only" in the listing.
But I guess DVD's and other shippable items that you don't need anymore you can sell easily, although majority of the world has figured out how to download and/or have Netflix/Hulu but you can still try your luck.
Things like shoes you can sell or even try your local Goodwill, find some good items for a bargain and try sell them.
Then once you've made enough to start up a hefty business, you can try importing items eg. AUX cords, then sell them off on eBay.

Selling stuffs that you dont need is a good way to start but what would you sell if you are out of stuffs? I have read somewhere that you should sell something that are hard to find at the shopping mall to gain customers on ebay. Be a droshipper and sell your stuff. I am not into ebay but I hope my advise will help you get started

Buy electronics on craigslist to sell on ebay. Ask around if any friends want to sell their old iphones, you'll be able to cop iphone 4's for $20, 4s's for $50, and 5's for $100. Some people are really stupid, they think their 1 year old iphone is worthless, if they're smart and want more then pull up gazelle and offer them $10 more than gazelle and say something like "I'll give you $10 more in cash and right now" usually they'll take you up on your offer. I remember someone smashed their iphone 5 the first week it was out and i offered them $20 and they took it, I was able to sell it for a couple hundred. On craigslist the prices might seem high but some people are desperate to sell. Send those people a quick text and say "hey man i really need an ipod rn, I'll pay you $50 today rn" most of the time they'll take you up on your offer.

This. I've seen 1 or 2 people on bhw actually do this method and they ended up banking $1k-$2k a month.
Today I listed my personal items! Great advice already so I am thankful for that. Only listed items I can ship easy and make some profit on. For those asking I am not thinking about making a big lifestyle out of this. Hope I can earn investment money!

1-2k is around average, if you do this full time and post ads on craigslist and other local sites about buying used phones you could make so much more.
A lot of my friends actually just have their old phones lying around, if I didn't buy it off of them they would just be lying around collecting dust.

You do the calculations, take shipping and everything into account then check current listings to see if there is something you could benefit from.

I really do recommend that you try fivver. It's one of the easiest places to make a bit of cash in a timely manner.

Besides eBay, don't forget Amazon, and should you want to expand globally with your online garage sale business, you should look into Taobao, JD and Flipkart. Remember to form a LLC or incorporate a S corporation as things move along to protect yourself from undue liability, though a classic C corporation will be more appropriate if an IPO is planned. Should you seek foreign investors for your online garage sale business, skip the S corporation, and use a LLC or C corporation; otherwise your foreign investors will have to setup a domestic US vehicle to invest in your business. More hassle and tax headaches for them means less capital injected for you. Should things really blow up, ping me and we'll help you setup a 501c3 or trust to maximize tax favorable treatment from the IRS for you and your progeny. Good luck!

My ebay is also got suspended not long ago and that is why I dont do IM with ebay. Their reason was "your account was acting inconsistently with the letter or spirit of our policies". I was just posting 1 item at the moment and the suspension was as fast as lightning
