ready to give up...

Need some motivation or a kick in the arse, something to get me going again. It's been a rough month...here is an overview

-spent $800+ building and ranking 5 "mini authority" sites, interlinked them because they are extremely related (ex: blue widget, red widget, etc) thinking that would be okay, g00gle thought otherwise...all 5 sites deindexed
-bought 5 new domains, spent a day cloning the sites over to the new domains, 301ed the old URLs and started up SEO, ranked my best site back up to #4 only to get smacked out of top 100, can't even figure out why

-also working on 3-4 other big sites that have a lot of potential but are no where in SERP's, even though they are on aged domains and I've been doing bookmarks, articles, wikis. I just can't find motivation to even continue working on them after this kind of shiet happened with my other sites.

My stats are pretty sad considering I've been reading/practicing IM for almost 3 years on and off....was making about $50 per day with adsense, but now I'm lucky to make $1, my only income right now is from a site promoting a CJ offer, averaging a measly $20 every 2-3 days.

Any advice? I'm starting to think g00gle just hates me or maybe there is some porn/virus sites on my shared host. I've just been having terrible luck lately.

You made a mistake linking the sites, when google found 1 of your sites they didn't like they also found all your other sites.
Are you using duplicate content, what are you doing wrong, you must be doing something google doesn't like?
Why aren't you getting web 2.0 and blog post back links?

I know it might be hard but dont give up keep on working. Its been over 1 month on my new site still on page 14 of google still working hard i mean paying seo company to get it ranked.

Btw what did you do that you sites go d-index?

Yea I learned the hard way that google doesn't like interlinking, even if the sites are related.
All content is unique, and I have been using web 2.0 and ALN (very moderately). I didn't use ALN or any blog networks when I made the 5 new domains, just to be safe, but I still got knocked from #4 to 100+ overnight. I don't know wtf is going on.

Interlinking.

I had a blogroll widget on each site that linked to the other 4 sites.

so rock bottom for you is (about) $7 a day?

why give up?

that is $7 more a day than people who can't make shit make. They are the ones who should be making threads about giving up not you. Take that $200 hundred you are bringing in a month and put it into something new...keep expirementing.

This was the perfect thing for me to read as one of my sites just went from 12->26 when I'm trying to get it on the first page to leverage it into my first offline SEO business job.

Don't forget with the newer sites that you should make sure you are not too aggressive with the link building in order to keep Google from slapping you around.

KeyzDT makes a really good point as well that $7 a day is nothing to be ashamed of, sure you won't retire on it but it gives you a few hundred bucks a month to work on more SEO stuff. Google is always going to be changing, just keep up with the changes, keep your chin up and you'll be fine!

Start again a fresh, this time don't interlink your sites or 301 penalized sites to your new money sites. You can only fail at SEO if you quit...

So true. If you love it...no amount of obstacle will stop you. By reaching out, especially at the point you're at now, it seems your inquiry is more of an esoteric question rather than a practical question. I too have been hit with some business altering news, albeit involving the (civil) loss of a crucial business partner. At first I was angry/scared/confused. Thought of dropping it all and just giving into corporate America again.

Then I realized that it didn't have to be that way. I still have a lot of skill learned, tools acquired and connections made. Sio I gathered it all up and started writing a new plan. Similar field, new plan.

Anyways, your post may not have been that deep but I felt like the emotion was close to home. Pick what you love to do, take care of what you have to do, make a plan to do what you want to do.

An overused quote for you: Insanity is defined as doing the same the over and over again and expecting a different result.

A thread such as this coming from a Jr VIP? I am disappointed OP. In the years of being online you should have known interlinking is bad in Google's eyes.

But nevertheless, giving up is definitely not an option. You have completely burn that bridge no matter how hard it gets.

If $800 is a large portion of your revenue/income dedicated to IM then you need to diversify more. It stings a lot less with you don't put it all into one project.

You're not ready to quit. You made a thread; if you were going to quit you'd just stop.

You "failed" with some action you took, and you know what not to do now.

You're generating regular income. You are the 1%.

Clean up your linking process, lighten up on paid services. Be more organic. Look for a thread that phpbuilt made about a guy that had his sites removed from index and had them put back in by reducing his ads, changing the design, didn't make it so obtusely money oriented, and changed from 400word(i believe) articles to a few 2000 word articles and allowing for more organic traffic. His site was put back into index.

If someone can come back from having their site obliterated from the results, you can climb back up. You clearly have the work ethic. You'll be just fine.

Like GeeWhiz said. I don't think it was a good idea to 301 the deindexed sites to the new sites. Seems like all you would be doing is transferring the negative ju ju.

Thanks, some good posts in here, made me think a lot and its always good to here motivational stuff like "It?s always too soon to quit."

I just bought Jr. VIP maybe 2 months ago, and just because I'm Jr. VIP doesn't mean I know everything

, still learning as I go.

Time to regroup and make a new plan!
