Hi everyone! Like most of you, I am also an avid fan of drop shipping and mail order businesses. For a few months now, I have been using one particular drop shipping service from a reliable Chinese-owned company, who is a distributor -- high quality, low price, no counterfeits, all products include factory warranty, online tracking available (uses major shipping agents), accepts paypal, and importantly with excellent English speaking customer service (accessible 24/7 through live chat).

Most of us would think that 99% of products manufactured in China are fakes. This may be true (I have no basis to say it's a fact or a fallacy!), but there are also honest and reliable Chinese manufacturers and distributors who are willing to help independent individual entrepreneurs without any company affiliations.

Let us admit it...China has been and will always be the world's largest factory. You may not notice, but come to think of it, your favorite dollar or wholesaler stores source their products from China. China comprises 1/5 of the word's population. Why can they afford low cost production? It's because they have huge manpower and low manufacturing cost (this doesn't exactly mean mass production, while cutting off quality).

Before getting into business with China, it is a good practice to research and read honest dropship reviews. One best method is to ask feedbacks from customers of the prospect company you have chosen. This way, you'll know the pros and cons of that wholesale supplier.

Pieces of Advise:

Learn from other people's mistake!

Never ever jump into a what you think is a good opportunity unless you have done your research and investigation about the company. This will keep you from losing your time, effort, money, and above all prevent being scammed!

If you happen to find good reviews about a company, search for scams and frauds. Do not stop your research after reading one too-good-to-be-true positive review. Dig more!

Weed out real manufacturers and wholesale distributors from Middlemen (claiming to be "the only authorized supplier"). As dropship retailer, you need to find a good margin of income. You will never get rock bottom price with middlemen because they are also concerned with their own money-making and they will make a business out of you.

Please note that Middlemen will never allow you to get near the manufacturer or a distributor. They will feed you with false claims that you can only get the products you want through them and you cannot transact direct to the main source of the product (manufacturers or wholesale distributors). But the truth is You Can!

Do not sell replicas or counterfeit brand products. Although it may have extremely low price, profitable, and nice-to-sell, you may get customs clearance problems. These items may be difficult to ship in large quantities and may not be able to penetrate a country of its destination -- cause you to refund and lose money!

Always pay securely (e.g, PayPal, bank transfer). Do not pay through unsafe and unsecure payment methods like the Western Union. If Western Union is the only payment terms of your sourcing company, seek assistance from that company and make your request. If they did not agree the first time -- request again!

Lastly, know the import rules of your own country. Most Chinese companies does not charge its buyers with sales tax. It is therefore your responsibility as the dropshipper to inform your customers about the possible "custom duty" or "use tax" that may be incurred upon delivery of their order.

can you give us more information about the Chinese company that you're dealing with ?

I am dealing with an electronics company located in Shenzhen. They have a very good reputation online, good reviews and recommendations, and importantly they have quality low cost items and absolutely no fakes. Company's products are sold on eBay international sites because they have worldwide shipping (FedEx, DHL, UPS, EMS, AirMail) -- all with tracking number is provided on your account once your order is sent out, so bascially it is an easy system to track your orders (linked directly to the shipping agent's online tracking).

This wholesale distributor comapny has no joining fee and no minimum order requirements. Some products that cost lesser (e.g., $3-15 USD) are packed by light bulk (e.g., 2-4 items per order).

Please note that although there are so many manufacturing companies in China, you must be able to select carefully the best among them. You must deal with wholesale distributors at least to get wholesale prices (although you don't purchase in bulk). China is a good sourcing country, if and only if you are able to weed out those who can deliver you the best quality service -- which I believe could be provided to any online retailer just as equally satisfying as when you are dealing with other foreign manufacturers.

If you are ready to discover more about what it takes to get into the business of dropshipping, I recommend you to Google search "DropshipFocus" to learn more about how dropshipping works. It's FREE. You can access video and audio tutorials, and few sample wholesale distributors is mentioned on the course.

Here are few wholesale dropshippers mentioned on dropshipfocus: vertexairsoft (they are an authorized wholesale distributor -- I think, if I am not mistaken, their products come from China too.)

Again, it is not recommended to sell Fake brand name products (hard to ship and may encounter custom clearance problems, especially if there are strict policies on your country or its destination). So research first your supplier. Some of them could be claiming they are the manufacturers of such brand namens, indeed it is true -- only they are not authorized to do so.

Get rid of middlemen! Look at it this way:

Product's Manufacturer --> Wholesale Distributors --> MIDDLEMEN --> You --> Retail Customers
Product's Manufacturer --> Wholesale Distributors --> You --> Retail Customers

Your profit margin would increase without Middlemen claiming to be "Wholesale supplier" or "Authorized Distributor"

I'll get back to you as soon as I am already allowed to send PM. Thanks.

Best Regards,
Sienna

Hey not sure if you want to give up your info as to what the Company name is or their contact details but it would be much appreciated as I can only find suppliers selling replicas. And I have been looking for over 12 months. Please help all of us out there that are after this info.
Thanks.

Not really useful in my opinion...the dropshipping game has changed long time ago.
While reading this article, I felt like I was reading a dropshipping 101 article from 2005.
Something that most people tend to forget "NEVER PAY FOR A DROPSHIP SERVICE".
Dropshipping companies tend to charge you a monthly or yearly fees...That is BS.

To be honest with you a lot of scammers will use western union. Legit companies will use ALIPAY or TENPAY.

The best method would be to contact the factory or wholesalers from China and make a partnership with them. Nothing really hard...

Thanks for the input!

First point: Real dropshipping companies will never charge you any joining fee, not even monthy fees! The frame of find real manufacturers/real wholesale distributors is that -- Retailers or resellers are giving them the FAVOR of selling their products, therefore, they are willing to work with them without cost.

MIDDLEMEN acting as fake wholesalers --> will Not Support this idea. Why? because they are after of huge profit themselves by making other sellers believe they are the "real guys."

Take for Example UrbanLoad. Is this company a middlemen? I read on the salehoo forum post that it is part of their directory listing. But come to think of it, why does this company has an exactly similar nature of products with the dropshipdesign?

Urbanload charges $19.95 monthly fee (1 month trial -- without dropshipping service). I have seen negative comments about this company, and I have also read (although I cannot strongly confirm as it is only posted on one forum) -- that the "Ebay seller case study" were all made up, not even true, and those named sellers is not or at one point in time affiliated or sell their products upto this time but mixed. Search for feedbacks. Take note that Urbanload compete with their dropship customers as they are also an Ebay seller! Check for their reputation.

Lesson: Search customer feedbacks first, Think twice before you decide to join companies with paid dropship companies (worse: with monthly charges), 'cause after all they might be misleading you.

Point 2: Yes, there are higher chances that you'll get scammed if you pay through Western Union. You can't track where your money is withdrawn. They can run away with your money so easily.

Lesson: Ask and request for legitimate payment system that you can track and you are protected.

Third point: Contact China manufacturers directly, nothing hard -- yes, maybe it isn't hard to find them (they are all over free online sourcing directory, like Alibaba, Tradekey, or GlobalSources -- However, the REAL FEAT is making sure that these Chinese manufacturers/distributors will not sell you counterfeit products, replicas (saying it's authentic at low price), and not let you down with the fulfillment of your orders. It all boils down to trust and reliability, and going for distributors who can give you the best deal.

Lesson: If you have found a particular company, know them first, their business, and you should ask for references (e.g., they could quote a client from your country), and ask where you can find any feedbacks made to them by their customers (e.g., feedback on quality of product, customer support, how they deal product replacement/return, after sales handling, etc.)

Important Note:

Request for product sample(s). Never sell their products (or any dropship products for that matter) to other people unless you are definitely sure that they are of good quality, good packaging, products are similar as described, and test for their handling and shipping time. See if you are happy with the service of the dropshipping company first.

So I checked out Drop Ship Focus which led to World Wide Brands. They charge a $299 membership fee, so they are a scam, right?
