Hey all. I've been a member here for quite a while but have never really posted much... I've ditched one of the other forums (take a wild guess) and have decided to use BHW instead. The talent here seems much more genuine and I love that the BS gets called out here almost right away.
I'm probably slightly more "business minded" than the typical Internet Marketer, so forgive me if some of my posts are a bit long
I wont make any claims about my SEO skills, but I've managed to rank my own sites for some fairly competitive terms and I'm proud to say that my abilities (combined with random blessings, luck, and tons of testing) allow me to work from home. I'm working on a start-up company that we'll base out of Portland, Oregon that is *not* related to SEO/IM, but I keep one ear to the ground in the SEO/IM world anyways simply out of passion (I also run a small blog [based around IM/SEO/Web Design], but I need to re-brand that soon because it's not quite where I want it to be).
I don't care much for "hats" when it comes to SEO, but I do believe that there is an "ethical" way to do business, and I try to stick to that. Having said that, I don't disagree with [many] blackhat techniques; I actually enjoy studying them in-depth, because at their core, there is a reason that they work; a "piece of the larger puzzle". That reason is not always some "back door", but more than likely an insight into what Search Engines are looking for when they rank websites.
To me, it's interesting to know what search engines are looking for for more than just the obvious reasons; I enjoy putting the pieces together and seeing what the SE are trying to do and [exactly how] they're doing that.
Edit: I should clarify that my join date of June 2012 = when I started building my company and subscribed on here due to the wealth of information that was freely available
