Rates for web developers ?

Hello BHW family,

I have decided today to start a new website from scratch. Yet, i don't know what the average rates are for web developers. So, I'm here today to ask you guys how much will i have to pay a free lancer, to build me a site similar to damnlol. I have never built a website before, and this is my first shot at building one. So please leave your estimated rates below....

There are tons of damnlol clones out there, so my guess would be fairly cheap.

You need hosting, domain, and script.

So my guess is around $30-$55 if you do it yourself and $75-$100 if you hire someone.

If you need to hire someone, check your pm.

Thank you for the immediate and fast response. I never knew it was that cheap. I'm currently researching about IM and WD, I'm pretty sure ill contact you when i feel the right moment to start the site.

Ipe39 is right. Depends of what you expect from the website, you must pay for the value of the script.
BUT... After you'll develop the website, you will must SEO optimize, and a lot of other maintenance works on it. So, you'll need another money ( less, or more that the website price, again - depends of your expectations ).

It's only that cheap because there are scripts like that already written. If this was a unique job, like most are, it could easily get in the thousands.

Would you happen to know why - after pressing on the images on the bottom of the damnlol site - it transfers me to a site called "mgid"? why is this site connected to damnlol? Or is it a way of advertising and making money?

how cheap the web designers are become... all because of wordpress... earlier html only very expensive .
