I have rarely ever seen this if you could call it " method " mentioned in dropshipping and I am a little surprised by that. Please note that I have only been dropshipping for just over a year and I am currently only on my 2nd store but with the success of the 1st one I just had to share some information that could help you if you're in it for the long game and not the short game.

My 1st store is currently on around £2400/mo in sales ( aprox $3100 ) however the store has not launched till just gone October 2019 so I would consider that decent for the reported month of January.

When I started this store I did not read any methods or buy any courses at all I purely went off what I have learned from in life and from my other/prior businesses and that's legitimising your business is absolutely EVERYTHING.

What do I mean by legitimising a business?

Its how a business appears to the customers. You can have all the backlinks in the world and not convert simply because your store appears like some washed up clone of a legitimate store. If you are running a standard multi item niche store your store needs to look almost indistinguishable from the multi-million dollar rivals. Lets assume you are launching a shop selling mens underwear, well it better look like the Calvin Klein store or better. The best test for that would be to throw your website in a sample of 5 mens underwear shop websites and show them all to a friend that does not know you're building this and ask them for their opinion on which of these stores appear legitimate and safe to shop on to them.

That's only just the start....

The real cookie is in getting brand ambassadors, no not 24 hour shoutouts or Instagram posts on an influencers page, no I am talking about getting a real life human influencer that has a heavy following , fairly relevant in your target region that you're selling in and is hopefully still relevant as an influencer in general ( its best to grab the newcomers on TV that came on a recent show ) .

If you have a physical product for them to wear or use then do so, if not then simply request they make a video endorsing your product and giving you the rights to use that video and the endorsers likeness in perpetuity. Now this is where it gets interesting...

You have your endorsement video, you have your license to use their likeness. Get on to photoshop and plaster them on your front page among other endorsers ( if you have more , the more the better ) as official brand ambassadors. Oddly enough that alone is more important than the endorsement video which is something you can butcher and use as much as you like on FB and Instagram ads.

This therefore means whoever sees the ad with that video and recognises the endorser they will immediately make a connection not only with the influencer but subconsciously with your brand. If they trust the influencer then they will trust you, once they click on the ad and enter your website and see even more of their influencers ( and others if there are more ) they will feel like they are in a much more recognisable environment, a shop they could trust in.

As a bonus aside from legitimising your brand even if they don't need any underwear they might buy it because their favourite influencer is endorsing it.

Other ways to legitimise a brand:
- Physical office address ( use virtual office service )
- Real phone number plastered everywhere ( this number can simply direct people to the website with a voiceover you bought from Fiver ) . Normally people don't even use the number but the fact that they can see its there could mean the difference between a sale or no sale.
- Try and get on Google business location ( local ) with reviews.
- Try and get on Trustpilot with reviews.

Again I don't know if this has been posted before or if this is all known but I just thought I would share what I believe has really worked for me in my short time doing this.

What kind of ballpark $$$ numbers did you spend to engage your influencers for your projects?

Yes, this would be the real business approach.

Here is my approach: Start with a branded dropshipping store -> ranking it on Google and using social media to getting organic traffic, building brand awareness -> build my own private labeled products using this brand -> sell on Amazon and other shops to get my brand name out there even more -> using influencers and paid traffic to push sales and build even stronger brand awareness.

In a world where people are using their smartphones and KEEP SCROLLING (whether it is Fb, IG, TikTok, Pinterested etc.) it doesn't matter what you do, it doesnt what you say, the only thing matters is to stay in the head of the people. This is what I learn from Joseph Göbbels (Nazi Germany) who said: It doesn't if you lie to the people, its only important to repeat the lie over and over again in all kinda media channels and the lie will turn into the truth.

Just take a look on Donald Trump, he understood this principle. Remember how he kept saying weird stuff and insults about others while his election in 2016? People were confronted by his speeches and what he said 24/7, every time they watched TV, checked the newspaper, listened to the radio, checked their FB etc. and in the end they voted for him because they remembered him. He built awareness.

Never came across this approach before but definitely sounds doable

I would say around $150 - $500 per endorsement is reasonable for a country specific mid tier reality show star.

You're WAY off on that one. An endorsement from anyone with star status is 5 figures, without question. I just paid an IG/YT influencer with 5.5m followers $35k to do a 5 minute video that stays on their channel for 12 months only.

Seriously 35k???

The influencer point is really important and it can apply to other industries as well (beyond drop shipping). Overall you'd think these are pretty obvious points but they often get overlooked and I like they way you explained each of them in the OP. Good tips.

I’m obviously not off at all as I have 7 endorsements so far of stars literally every woman under the age of 40 knows in the UK, 2 of which have over 2,000,000 Instagram followers. I’m not talking about Rihanna and Justin Birther I’m talking about reality tv show stars people that are on the fringe of being ultra famous , someone that everyone knows just about enough for them to be cheap.

$150-$500 is all it costs to get a video from these people , just a few seconds of their time to record a video and send it to you.

There is a trick to avoid agencies and contacting them directly in order to get a cheaper price but I’ll keep that to myself for now as it seems no one is really aware of it.

Cool method. But this is not for beginners. You can do so if you found an evergreen product

You can get nano and micro influencers to do it just by giving them the product. I would suggest that is actually a better place to start until you are comfortable understanding how to work with brand ambassadors.

...other/prior businesses and that's legitimising your business is absolutely EVERYTHING.

You hit the nail on the head imo. I have only been lurking around the forum for a brief time, but this has struck me as the biggest difference between the online and the offline business world. In the Western world (only part of the globe I'm familiar with) businesses that are not trustworthy or seem legitimate simply do not compete anymore. They've gone bankrupt 15 years ago.

If I may, I would like to add a simple, but often overlooked, item to your list:

-Use proper spelling, grammar, vocabulary and style

Any native English speaker can distinguish texts that originate from a legitimate source from those that do not. I've read texts in perfectly fine English, from which it was instantly apparent that they were written by a non-native English speaker (perhaps in combination with a spinner or something). Native speakers of all languages speak and write their language in a certain way. For them, reading a text that uses rare words and weird grammar, arouses suspicion (which makes them get the hell away from your website)

Wow, I def need to step my game up. i feel like im doing rookie numbers now.

Loved it great content OP I enjoyed every second of reading that.

I want to ask you both @Voo @nakamura once you step up your game do you still dropship and sourcing from the same place (let's say China)? Or you arrange your own warehouse for your brand?

Yeah, but that video made it's money back in less than a day.

@gorillabob1 would you mind stating how much that $35k generated in sales? Just to get an idea how profitable it was.

Also, did the influencer somehow justify for that price? Was she able to show figures from past collaborations?
