If this post isnt in the right section, I applogize. Feel free to move.
My adult toy site (which I'm not sure if I'm allowed to list but is easy to figure out) has been moving up the ranks somewhat quickly as of late. I have been pushing alot of competative keywords for the past few months rather than longtail keywords. It was rather slow at first because of the competition but I'm finaly starting to make some real progress and move up the ranks. I use a few different tools to check my rankings including seoserp and seocentro, as well as checking them manually on google search.
(For this post I will be listing my keywords with " "although they are not actually searched with them. Its just to make it easier to read.)
I orginally starting hitting the keywords "rabbit vibrators" pretty hard then starting moving towards keywords such as 'buy sex toys". Of course when I started my site was new and was nowhere to found. After obscene amounts of reading I've learned tons about seo. I started off pretty slowly, but as the months go on, I am pushing my seo efforts harder and harder.
My site rankings are as follows using the tools above, and shouldnt vary more than a couple of spots for any given area...
Rabbit Vibrators: ranked number 3
buy sex toys: 13
sexual toys:11 (this one is on the move. It was 16th about 2 weeks ago then it was 6 and now 11. Its jumping around since I started pushing it hard. It should settle in the top 10 soon.)
adult toys: 22
sex toys: 70 (I have never tried to rank for this term but I noticed I jumped from the 400's, so I just started pushing it.)
sexual lubricants: 187
sextoy reviews:180
sex toy shop: 74( just started this one also)
There are some others but this gives you an idea of where I'm at. At this point, based on google analytics, I average about 20 visitors a day. "Rabbit vibrators" brings in the most traffic but I would have thought it would be more. Google keyword tool shows about 33k local searches a month for this term alone. Using this past week, since my rankings for this term havent moved since then, I have 53 clicks for this term. Now I understand I'm not number 1 yet but out of a possible 8250 searches a week I would think I'd get a little more. Now I dont pretend to know everything about this and I could easily be missing something.
My sales are dismal at best in my opinion. A couple of weeks ago I did get a single sale of about $430.00 but my sales are few and far between.
I'm really looking to hear other peoples successes and failures based on their rankings and traffic, as well as advice from people who have successful sites.
I'll hit number 1 for rabbit vibrators, as well as top 10's on some of my other terms soon, but now I question the traffic I'll gain. I log my ranking results every 5 days, and I may start to keep this thread going with the results vs traffic changes.
