Ranking WordPress Site, but going HTML? Will I lose my rank?

Hey BHW,

I'm currently ranking strongly for my money site that's wordpress. However, I have found a killer theme for my site, except it's HTML...

Now, I use yoast SEO, post a high end blog post around once a week, and rank for multiple keywords in my niche (top 3).

I am wondering if changing my theme to HTML from wordpress will affect my ranking. Will changing my theme affect SEO?

Any advice is appreciated.

In fact, you might even discover an improvement. Google actually favours low mark-up load (if your page contains more content than html mark-up).

imo you take quite a risk, as you rank high; given the plugins will be gone and the dynamic aspect of wordpress will be gone too, expect the unexpected; I would not play with that if I rank high; especially you can have many designs with WP; not mentioning the migration part.

There is an old saying - if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Why not build a similar site with your new found theme.

I did an analysis on this for a client before they wanted to switch to a different cms tried to find a case study found this online looks like loosing some initial rankings from the change is almost unavoidable however there is usually a recovery. The clients I moved over had a drop then actually much better traffic but I changed them from html to wordpress and the mobile version of the site was much improved increasing traffic and conversion for that aspect.

Make sure all your link structure is 301 redirected or that could cause a large issue aswell.

You should just leave it. You always face a risk when you change something. If you are blogging on a regular basis there is no reason to go to html/css based sites. You'll lose a lot of efficiency by ditching WP.
