Hi

stumbled upon this site ---> h**p://twittersoftware-reviews.com/ and can't figure out how he's ranking for such a competitive keyword (Twitter marketing software) with very few backlinks (less than 900)

and with NO content (besides 1 page)

any idea?

It could actually be a combination of quality backlinks and low competition. If you are trying to rank for this keyword, it sounds like it would be worth your time to try to outrank this guy.

How old is his site? The age of the domain can make a difference too.

My AVG is blocking access to that site.

Danger: AVG Active Surf-Shield has detected active threats on this page and has blocked access for your protection. The page you are trying to access has been identified as a known exploit, phishing, or social engineering web site and therefore has been blocked for your safety. Without protection, such as that in the AVG Security Toolbar and AVG, your computer is at risk of being compromised, corrupted or having your identity stolen. low competition imo:

google says there are over 2 million competing pages. but if you browse until the last page you'll see google telling you that there are only 375 competing websites. This fact + keyword density + backlink power makes his ranking.

I hope this helps.

I've got a blog with just 6 posts on it, less than 6 months old, virtually no backlinks, and Google is sending me hundreds of visitors a day.

How? Good keyword-domain name match.

Of course, I haven't been able to earn a !@%@^'n dime with it........

according to senuke that keyword phrase is "not the easiest" - but that means its not that tough either.

also it appears that virtually everyone of their backlinks have "twitter marketing softare" as the anchor text

Could be that some SEO guy has a site pointed at it (301 re-direct) with 10,000 links that aren't showing up in however you are checking backlinks...

I wonder if just working a deal with a couple of high pr sites is better in the long run than screwing with all these other linking strategies.

Seems like he has low competition and high PR backlinks. See how quality is sometimes better than quantity?

"Twitter marketing software" is a very easy keyword phrase. That's how the site is ranking well, there's no comp.

I still can't puzzle this thing out either.

At present I have a site about 10 weeks old. It ranks #13 in the core keyword out of almost 3,000,000.

But google only lists 15 backlinks, almost all low quality.

Avast flagged this site as malware and dumped me out. So it is a little hard to analyze . The search term itself isn't a terribly difficult one.

I don't know about that site but one possible way to rank with very less backlinks is by getting high quality one way links in the same niche. That strategy is very tough but is possible with hard work and good skills.
