subfolder is on the same root domain so I not see this as a separation.

Bloomberg not use subfolders, my theory is when you build your structure to deep= subfolders, google will not crawl it, so not all your pages and posts will indexed , keep it flat.

when you build your category page/ taxonomy page then import a landingpage template (elementor, kadence, oxygen builder) then your page looks commercial with your category post list....you can add sign up form, text for seo so google will index it ( content first above all others)
