I started a website around early April, medium to low keyword competition. I have done lots of link building including, social, pbn, some sape and link wheels as well as forum posts. The main keyword has 1000 exact searches btw. For all that time I don't rank anywhere in top 1000 for the main keyword. There are many unrelated pages on the first page which tells me that the relevance or competition is not much. I'm wondering how long is this gonna take, any body with a new site this year probably?

i am seeing slow movements as well, but i have to mention that my domain new is a new one. I have been hovering on page four for my main keyword for a couple of weeks now without any significant movement. competition is not very aggressive yet the slow pace!

There is no movement for the main keyword at all. My domain is new too. Perhaps have you thought of 301 redirect?

If you aren't ranking at all then you haven't optimized the page correctly. You say you don't rank in the top 1000? If I don't rank in the top 200 within the first 4 weeks I go back and optimise my pages better to see results.

Check out your pages for over optimization, also try to get the serp for some long tails that you used. Like previously stated, if I don't rank in top 200 I go back and check my content.
Now, I don't know how competitive your KWs are, but generally you have an onsite issue for low-medium KWs.

Regarding the delay, I too experienced that with a 6-month website that now ranks decently, but new ones with PBN are stuck at #40-50. I've read that I can bypass this by adding content, which I do, 2 articles per day. Hope that I can do it in the near future.

I will check the over optimization part which I doubt since this is a salespage sort of homepage. I will also consider adding more content/blog posts. The links to the posts appear at the footer of the homepage. I don't know if this makes any difference.

good content + proper on-page seo + proper interlinking(very improtant) = kickstart your new site

Yes it takes forever these days to rank new sites. I have 3 new websites as well in really low comp niches with proper on-page and PBN links but they are not ranking at all yet. Before you could rank a new site in Days but that dont work anymore.

But as they say "the one who waits for something good never waits too long" :)

Yes, You should optimize your main page, You may not ranking because of lack of On-SITE SEO or over optimized keywords in articles.

Optimization is a word you should hear quite often OP, if a website is properly optimized than ranking it should be easier than one would think (in a sense, of course).

If you haven't optimized the main portions of your site (let alone the entire thing) than you might want to consider doing that, I'd hate to see somebody lose all of their hard work over such a miniscule error.

It is either under optimization or over optimization, check for both as you should really be ranking with the kind of efforts you have put in so far.

Make sure your page is not over optimized.

I made this mistake 1 time before, took me 1 month to realize it xD

If you have created your website last April then that means it has been more or less 2 months since it became live. I think you have to wait a few more days since your website is relatively new. However, if things don't change when all the waiting is done, then you need to recheck what you did. You may either lack something or overdid something.
