Does this usually recover on its own, or require structural adjustments?

Spike then flat is common after aggressive link pushes. it’s google testing the page then pulling it back once signals don’t fully match. sometimes it recovers but only if the page actually deserves the spot long term. if not it just sits there.

i have seen this before too. it sometimes starts out looking very promising but then the rankings fall after some time as google gets some time to understand the new link juice. instead of trying to push the rankkings further with new backlinks, what i would do is wait for some weeks nd find out where the real problem lies.
 
This can happen after a strong link push, rankings may move up temporarily & then settle as google reassesses the links & pages, avoid making suddent structural changes & instead monitor the tread before adjusting the strategy
 
Yes I’ve seen rankings move around after a big link push I’d probably wait a bit and watch it before making any major changes
 
yeah, i've seen that happen. A big link push can cause some quick movement and then things just sit there for a while.
I wouldn't change the whole site right away though. I'd give it some time and see if the rankings settle first, then look at what actually changed.
