I was wondering if any of you have had success ranking subdomains. I have a generic domain and I created some sub-domains with my exact keywords hoping that would help out. Is ranking a sub-domain a futile exercize ?

sub domain is like a new site...so no, u can rank them just fine..

The only thing i worry about is your main domain popping up in every anchor text you use..since you are infact only ranking a sub domain..

Why not just rank your main domain for different keywords then put the others one somewhere else on your site and have authority flow to those while also doing deep linking

Your saying put my other sites in sub-directories rather than sub-domains ?

No i clearly said your KW, like u asked.

i merely gave u another option to put your KW somewhere on ur site so u dont have to have a ton of different sub domains in your anchor text THAT WILL ALSO have your main domain plastered all over at the same time..

    Thats a big footprint..
