I have a domain over 6-8months old, 11DR, 60K backlinks, from 100 referring domains and 80% do follow, in an average competitive niche but yet i have zero traffic it really gives me concern as to what could be the problem? what am i not doing right?, is it even normal at all?.

Yeah, what could be wrong...

What about the quality of content?

How many posts do you have?
it is an ecommerce website, the content isnt that great but its not the worst. its not like i am troubled aout top page and all with regards tocontent, but at least was expecting a few visitors or little traffic that i can build on.

So...

- 0% good content

- 60k backlinks for 7 months

- You don't care about content

Not sure what to say so you don't get me wrong.

Short and simple... This is not how things work.

You have to create a new plan, this time try not to jump from step 1 to step 10 and then to step 25.

Go step by step, add good quality content first, build some links but nothing like you did, 60k is just... Waaaaay too much.

Lesson learned, tomorrow is a new day, we live and learn ;)

this is your problem right here.

Agreed. You don't really want that many backlinks built in such a short time and also the low number of referring domains is not good; meaning you have lots of links coming from just a few websites.
This makes me think the quality of those backlinks is probably low as well. It may not cause an issue but I am sure most of those backlinks will be ignored at best.

If your content is not great that doesnt help either and lastly, your website is relatively new, so you should slow down a bit when it comes to your expectations.

The first thing I would do is some keyword research - find the top 5 ranking pages for each of the products that you are targeting, you can use a tool such as ahrefs for this. Look at all of the keywords those top competitors are rnaking for with relation to each of your products. Then you have some keywords to go after.

Next, optimize your content for those keywords and make sure you have 150-200 words of unique content at least, for each of your products. Make sure you optimize the page in terms of appropriate headings, meta description, image alt tags etc.

Make sure you have everything correclty set up in terms of hierachy, products nested under targeted category pages and so on.

Once you have done that, put a slow and steady link building campaign in place with a low number of HIGH quality links going to homepage, category pages and product pages over the next 3-6 months.

Then re-assess based on the results.

Get rid of that site and start a new one. Build quality content, then after that, check your competition to see what kinds of links you will need to build to rank. Good Luck

i dont understand, what do you mean.

Here's something that not many people will tell you: google hates people who do SEO (who buy backlinks, more specifically). So, they (google) do whatever they can to stop people from doing that, and one of the measures that google had put in place to make life hard for people who buy backlinks is by making the easy-to-get backlinks useless.

In other words, the easier a backlink is to acquire, especially if it's a backlink from free websites (bookmarking sites, web 2.0 websites, blog comments, article directories, profiles on authority websites like microsoft, spotify, or whatever) the less value those backlinks have.

And it's even worse when you get 60k backlinks, especially on such a short period of time (7 months) and especially since there are only 100 referring domain. Even a monkey could figure out that a website that receives 60k backlinks from 100 unique domains belongs to someone who buys backlinks, so even a monkey could figure this out, let alone google who tracks everything about everyone. So google knows that you have purchased backlinks and so has applied a temporary or mild penalty on your website.

You can still get your website out of the dangerous zone by disavowing those backlinks (which is VERY time consuming and I would freak out if I had to do this and I wouldn't do it at all, I would just create another website), or... continue posting content and acquiring backlinks but ONLY quality backlinks this time. And by quality backlinks I mean guest posts or PBN backlinks from really really REALLY good websites. I would get 5-10 such quality backlinks per month for at least 5-6 months and then check the rankings again. But beware! Such quality backlinks will cost you a ton of money, which is why some people - rightfully - advise you to just drop the site and create a new one.

There might be other solutions, too, but without an in-depth audit of your website and without taking a look at it no one can recommend you the best option. Just make sure you don't make your domain name public on this forum cause bad things happen.

i don't think your backlinks is the actual problem in here,
getting 60k from 100 websites isn't a real problem in most cases,
for example, if you get a footer, sidebar or header content from some website with 60k pages, you'll get 60k links from a single website and you won't have a problem most of the time
even if these links are trash, google doesn't really give a negative value to such links, but simply ignore them

from such a little information, nobody can actually judge and most of the comments here are just thrown away or unsure predilection

maybe you should tell more about the situation by stating these above for your main targeted keywords:
  • current rank of the website, most of the website in the 3rd page doesn't have any traffic, but they still better than a site not within the top 100
  • top 10 websites average word count, content quality, website age and keyword density compared to yours
  • how many links do these pages in the top 10 have on average and how good are these links compared to yours
  • how authoritative the top 10 websites compared to yours
  • how much traffic are you getting by now (I know you said none, but having 20 daily visits is more than 0)
disavowing the links won't help on most of the cases unless you got a manual penalty and want to apply for a review,
but it really depends on your competition, targeted keyword and your website on-page and off-page

I don't know why some of you push brand news sites to the limits. Once your 1st website is created, just move to another site and then to another.. I always start building backlinks after 4-6 months! Meanwhile I'm working on a new sites mostly.

it has never been a problem with getting links even for a website that it's not live yet or 1 day old,
as far as the quality of the links are good to go, you won't have any problem

Ya, but why would someone give all hopes in one site? It's Russian roulette.

The real money start rolling when you have at least 10 sites updated frequently with high quality content.

At the time of writing I have 100 money sites.. some of them are just backups if something happens to my main websites. I'm always prepared to the worst case scenario.. From my experience, profit cuts are fu**** painful!!!

yup, that's true in some way,
but it depends on the competition and niche for real,
that might be good for micro-niche websites, but not some big one
you don't want 20 websites ranking on the 2nd page for example, I would rather get 3 ranking for #5 or better
