Are there any Blackhat techniques to get ranked on local listings?

My business JUST got placed on google maps today and I'm just a little dot on the map compared to some of my other competitors. I talked to the google rep and she said something about "Google has a specific algorithm" blah blah blah. Who do I need to blow around here to get some exposure?

Things I have done:

I completed my google places page to 92%
My web-site is pretty solid, page 1,2 for most of my keywords
Good on-page and off page seo

My business location does kind of suck though, it's pretty much WEST of all the competition, however I wouldn't think that would stop me from getting on the top 10 of the local searches.

I know I'm jumping the gun since it's only the first day i've bene listed, but I wanna get ahead of things!

Many thanks!

Build links and reputation to the Google Places Listing. But dont make to much reputations in a short time. 5-10 a month would be okay.

Build links to the google places? You mean you can build links just like regular domains? So should I blast it or articles, what?

By reputation do you mean people leaving reviews?

Citations, Backlinks, and REVIEWS. Focus on a bunch of reviews, get a bunch of backlinks, and a few citations.

... and sit back. There is a time factor with Google Places that is built into their algorithm. You can also use their Google Places Advertising.. there are ton of free $100 coupons going around.

I've tried building backlinks to mine and didn't see any difference in searches. You need an optimized places listing, reviews, citations, optimized videos, optimized images, etc. You also should work on your site rankings. Being ranked well for your site will help improve your local listing.

What are citations? Do you guys make up google accounts and just write bogus reviews?

I've just recently brought a site to the top for local.
My first step, I took the top 20 sites, and did backlink research on them, and tried to get a link on the same page as every single one of them. Some you can't, some you can.

Hm, I tried that in the past, but most were home page links and such, placed there by other webmasters (as oppose to blog comments, profile links, etc.).

Did you contact those webmasters asking for a link?

My opnion, focus on reveiws! Spread them out. Get them on all the major review site as well as Google. All I can think of is Cnet and Yelp right now, but there are many more.

Goodluck.

SO by get reviews you mean, make them up right? LOL

Lol. Just be careful you unethical tard. :)

Don't go posting a bunch of fake reviews at one time. Spread out the Ip's and the time in which you post these reviews. Get proxies.

another thing that has worked for me is youtube
Google is YT friendly post the max amount of YT vids
in your google places page with all your keywords in the vid title & description
also make sure to put your url in description most peeps don't take advantage of this.

No, I just got what I could. ie Business listing sites, couple blog comments, couple forum sigs, etc. Wasn't a very hard business I was ranking, but the above method I said is always a good start. Then I would move on to article postings, some directory postings, etc. Most businesses shouldn't be too hard unless really competitive in a big city.
