Just dusting off an old tester site and checking keyword rankings...it's a year-old domain, couple of pages of good content and well-optimised.

For the primary keyword, it ranks #2 on google, #1 on yahoo, but NOWHERE on Bing.com

I used Bing webmaster tools to submit a sitemap and check for crawl errors but it came up blank. I've never seen such a difference on any other sites I've worked on before.

Any ideas?

Bing got some other ranking methods. Need to work hard for knowing the ranking strategies for rankings in Bing.
If you find any, help me out too.

At the moment, Bing only has about 17% market share, so it's not something I'm going to spend a lot of time on. Was just wondering why the results are so very different. Anyone else have any clue?

Add keyword meta tag to your website and submit your website again in Bing Webmaster Tool.

Thanks for the ideas. The site does not have an EMD btw. I will add more meta tags, resubmit and report back.

Use content more then 500+ words, Domain age, Bing put more weight on EMD's, and Add your site to Bing Webmaster Tools

Targeted Anchor text is something that matters much more with Bing.

UPDATE: I made the suggested changes (meta tags and sitemaps) and 4 weeks later, NOTHING! Anyone got any more ideas? The site is still top 3 in Google and Yahoo for exactly the same keyword phrases. Weird.

Increase you bid in bing per keyword & set your target higher.

This.
I was ranked #12 for a keyword with 4000 searches p/m (in google that is), with just 3 web2.0 properties (wordpress, tumblr and blogspot) I shot up to #1 and have stayed there since. I even removed the links to see what would happen and I'm still sitting there for 3.5 weeks now.

Yeah but if all your stuff winds up in the top positions, you get 100% of the traffic !
I do agree on the 17% tho

Yeah, obviously 100% of 17% is still brilliant in terms of traffic, but still no luck with the site! Focusing on Yahoo and Google is working great for me so far.

I need specific help to find out why my images rank great on Google and don't exist on Bing. The website is on the first page of both Google and Bing. It is JUST the images that I want Bing to also index and don't understand why they're not appearing. I've submitted and checked the sitemap in Bing Webmaster Tools.

If Google has 30 of my images for the top 70 of their images, Bing SHOULD also index them too. It's not as if Bing doesn't index the website. It's already in the top 5 for the term, which is an EMD, which Bing usually biases for.

The site is in the top 5 of Bing. Not a single image appears. Over 30 images appeared within the first month among the top 60 images on Google.
