Ranking news articles quicker than my competition.

I'm in the fashion news world and most of the time my articles after writing them hit the top 10-20 ranking spots and some of these sites have horrible content, less links, and no meta data at all. I got my images always ranking on the home page but I need a bit more help on what I can do to rank up the articles as soon as i post them.

Right now our site puts up about 10-15 articles a day and I share it on pretty much all the basic social sites but is there anything else I could do such as on page that I should be looking at?

I recall seeing a thread not too long ago that guides you through the process of making a Google News approved site. If it's on the Google News feed it's going to rank rather quickly, but then again SEO isn't exactly my specialty. I'll see if I could dig it up for you but no promises!

EDIT: What I'm getting at is maybe these sites are on the feed, hence them ranking/getting traffic so quickly (even though the content isn't up to par).

Um I've asked Mods to delete that post because I've gotten enough customers. But thanks for creeping and looking for my recent post... lol

Thanks for the help bro, well after doing a 301 redirect to a new name (branding my site) I lost a lot of link juice and have been getting back up to my old stats. I just found the article and see if ill get approved.

Now im just building links back to stabilize the site because before the 301 I would rank for any article top 3 in 24 hours now just top 20.

Build backlinks to your articles. In my experience, submit your article links in social bookmarking sites will help to increase your rank.
