So I created a micro niche site, there is fairly low competition.
I picked up a .org EMD, on page 1 for the keyphrase i'm targeting there is currently a .net EMD, but i'm confident I can beat it out.

My question: is it normal for me to start off low in the ranks even if all my good content etc has been indexed?

Right now, my privacy policy page, which has nothing on it besides my privacy policy, is outranking my homepage for my targeted keyphrase.

Can anyone shed some light into this for me?

The site has been live for about a week and a half now.

Thanks!

I think it's because google takes time + you need backlinks. I'm interested in the answer as well.

Yes it's normal. Many sites aren't even in the top 1000 when they first start. But if you add a couple links, and it's a low comp word, you should jump pretty quick.

It means your website is not well optimized. You should try easywp seo to do some onpage optimization.

Buddy... Your site is only 10 days old... Give it some time!

This whole forum is 'about' what you're asking. Read some good posts on basic SEO/backlinking.

Start small and build a wide variety of backlinks and work up slowly. Don't try to run before you can walk with some huge 'blast' from the services section. Test and measure and learn as you go.

Read this page for some background:

I agree that it's a new site. But that shouldn't stop you from developing the site further. Besides the backlinks, have you thought of some action in social media sites? I think Google pays a lot of attention there.

used white hat seo technique...!!..its best for you...and used also black hat seo but in limit..!!

this is normal thing new website take time to stable in google

So just create quality BL and then leave it for few weeks

Probably because it's an EMD, the fact that it's found your privacy policy will probably do it good in the long run. Have a look at the title of your privacy policy page too.

Once you get a few links to, and regular content on the home page, it should start to rise above the others.

try do few days weekly some manual links of forum posts signatures and social posts to main url ... if you can push some article marketing would be best.. just keep low under radar if you are already there ..
aswell put in footer the main phrase anchored to main page and it should get to proper page... you can make in the privacy page somewhere some anchor to main page aswell hehe

Jascoken, Thanks for the great resource man.

I know the site is still really young, i'm just anxious haha i've made a few bucks off of adsense already just from backlinks i've been building via blogs etc.

I can't wait to start getting some heavier traffic!

How often should I be posting articles for a specific micro niche site?

The site is about a product, there are only so many things that can be said about any given product right?

Thanks again for all the replies.
