With the recent Payday Algo update, I've not noticed many new sites ranking. This isn't only for payday terms but other money terms too. It seems to me that their Algo change has put age as a higher priority so that not as many new sites rank so quick and easily.

Anyone else noticed this or got any search terms they know where BH is helping new sites still?

    Cheers

I have a 2 week old site ranking higher than 1-2 year old websites. No trouble here.

I don't think anyone will give you their niche.

to the OP, I build backlinks and I'm getting clicks after 2 days so no problem here either.

No trouble ranking new sites here. Aged domains might work, but fresh site content is the key and new sites have plenty of that!

No problem ranking new sites here, although I see sites changing positions several times a day. Nothing is stable to a position anymore. Not that the position changes are huge, but they are certainly dancing spots.

I've done it as well. Got a brand new site with virtually no content or links already just one place behine a massive authority site with hundreds of pages on topis and tens of thousands of aged links and a high PR.

Google LOVE sites built in the last couple of months and you can outrank established authority sites easily at the moment.

    Why?

No real idea but a couple of theories.

Google is between 2 MAJOR authority (PR) updates.
This is the longest gap for 4 years and something larger is going on - possibly putting new factors into authority algorithm (and possibly preparing for the end of using PR as the main authority algo) New features being added to authority algo? Here's my guesses
    Author accreditation,
    Interlinking of URL's
    +1's,
Aged links from other authorities (meaning powering up your links is even more important then ever)
    "Brand" metrics

In the mean time - I think many of these factors have been removed from the system altogether and temporarily count for next to nothing while they are being revamped.

In a couple of the niches I work in I have just created new sites and seen them outrank or catch up in SERPS with my older sites within days, and stay yhjere for weeks/months.
Brand new sites that have overpowered 16 year old sites with thousands of articles, hundreds of videos and tens of thousands of UV's per day in some cases going back 16+ years. Taken down by sites I threw up in May/June

I have a prediction. In fact somerthing I'm certain of.

This won't last. The next authority update and major Panda refresh will hammer this - but short term a new site is a decent way forward to make a few quick bucks.

Currently Google is ranking new, unoptimized, unlinkied and overtly commercial ahead of most things - it's ass-backwards - but it won't last.

Thinks Scritty is on point just was looking at the backlink strategy of a site #1 for a 135k p month keyword and several other top 5 for keywords with 10k + searches per month, the site is less than 6 months old but back-linking didnt appear to commence until April or so, the site has 16 pages of content. (monetized via CPA)

Its in the weight loss niche which is no easy feat, so I guess the point is spam em while you got em!!!

Yes, for few niche where competition is low its easier to rank new sites or sites where you have not done SEO specially client's sites to SEO. However that is good news however still we can see that lots of big competition niche is full of high pr and high DA PA sites with strong backlink profiles.

So even its good for all of us that new sites ranks faster. :)

Both Interlinking of URL's and Author accreditation, are defiantly factors I think Google is taking into consideration. Seen well interlinked pages ranking for very competitive search terms with little or no backlinking. Something has definitely changed.

I've noticed as well that Google prefer new sites. There are some minimal changes but not really a big deal. This will definitely not last and we will adjust again to what Google will update.

I am not sure if something is going on, the last couple of updates (excluding the payday one) only messed up the SERPs and put BS sites ranking above quality. It's not always the case, but it's more than it used to be.

Not only on this kind of keywords. Also on many others rankings happen awefully slow.
