Ranking new gTLDs

Does anyone have experience in ranking new gTLDs? The main issue (or blessing, in some cases) is that the domain is freshly registered with no history. Is this going to negatively affect my efforts to rank this domain?
All of my domains are concise (1-2 words) on very popular keywords. I feel that this could possibly make my domains even harder to rank, as the popular niches are already saturated with longer domains. Is there anything I should / shouldn't be doing with them at this moment in time? I have parked some of them with sedo, but with the masses of competition on that marketplace they may be muscled out of the search results.
I was considering a PBN, however these are often (from what I can gather) constructed of domains which already have good authority and backlink profiles.

You right just as single word domains were the first wave to be conquered the two word domains are used up even three word in the domain are hard but most of my domains are 3 word descriptions. As a web developer I have to rank new sites all the time. What you could do is use 3 word combinations to rank with your 2 word domain being the first two or last two. Dominate that first then add a 4th word for the next campaign. Use link pyramids on fiverr and video submissions to get up and in there quickly and have everything indexed and rss submission tools like backlinkbeast, money robot submitter or senuke and you'll be good to go.
