ranking is dead.... google 2009 changes

I think that this will kill the passing of link juice + splogs, and also kill the use of cloaking and doorways, so it will make on-page SEO, youtube videos, traffic generation and content spinning more important. I don't see how it would kill blackhat promotion/traffic generation but if this guy is to be believed, it will impact blackhat SEO pretty strongly.

Java and Javascript are two completely different, unrelated languages. Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine.

You guys all seem worried about this search issue. It might take a little while, but we'll eventually figure things out again...

And if you read my post correctly, Then you would understand I was saying these changes are still clientside.(Based on the login system).

I think Google's "innovations" just mean smarter drive-by Trojan downloader bots.

With Google's new ranking system it's very susceptible to having bots emulate a browser in the background and click the up arrow for clients and X button on the competition. Also it wouldn't be that hard to start posting mass faked reviews for a company either.

Also for those who have been talking about Google getting more GUI friendly your way behind the curve. They've been working on that for quite some time.

*HINT* Reverse DNS http://www.google.com using the tool over at http://www.yougetsignal.com (I have no affiliation what so ever)... You will start to notice that Google owns some very unusual domain names, some companies they bought and never mentioned, hidden projects, their flash beta *what???* , etc.

You'd have to be pretty naive to think Google isn't collecting that data for something bigger.

I second the motion, there just changing the the enviroment in which we live, but like all animals in a enviroment they evolve and adapt to a new ways of survival.

you understand that bruce clay is one of the top seo guys in the world. he really can get you a #1 position on any keyowrd term you want. he has brainstorm sessions with google programmers...that dude knows SEO better than almost anyone...

Don't sweat it. If it does go through, which they have been bleeding it into the system for the last 6 months or so...it will actually be a huge help to someone that uses seo. This is actually a great thing, due to the fact that Google is going to give us the best split testing and target niche data possible.

By the personal selection of people getting their own search listing, and being able to take out the sites they don't want or have interest in, it is going to show us who the public wants.

You will be able to promote your site in the same manner to get it listed with no problem. The thing is that the system doesn't eliminate you permanently, just for that given search cycle. Which means that Google WANTS you to come back and join what the people are looking for in your keyword search term.

As far as the requirement for using a login for a google account, big deal. It just means they are trying to do like any of the rest of us that have businesses and monotize ther user capture capabilities within a mailing list via a membership system. Expect the email from them to pick up. I've already gotten 3 from them last week...promoting there adwords specials...heh.

For adwords users, I've got nothing there. I don't use them and only use Google for a reference/returning traffic access point to find me...like a business card or phone directory.

This is the way of Google. It's not that they are out to screw with us, they are simply streamlining their inhouse system for better use to their search clients. Roll with it and use it to your advantage to make some money.

Yeah, I agree that they have always pushed thatbut never been able to make it fly, as when they tried it back in 2001, they tanked horribly and people went over to ASK.com, making it really hot for the next year and a half until it tanked by trying to compete with Google for their new algoes and burnt up all their money in advertising to push while they were the fan favorite during that time. ( Remember the chimps in the coffeeshops? )

I don't think it will every go full commerical seperation due to the fact that to catagorize the searches into a public and commercial division would kill the internet natural search market and destroy Google within itself...the whole point of their system is to be able to search for anything by simply typing it in.

Not to mention that this would mean splitting what content is commercial and what content is educational, as well as hobby and group niches that do it for fun vs. technical trading information on the same topic....would be total chaos and upset a lot of people using that then would no longer be users.

In my opinion, the personal search selection is the better way to go.

Well, sorta. That's where most of this all came about from and the bigger picture is surely that they are going to go web 2.0 viral...which again, is nothing more than a benefit to seo users.

I guess those who can comprehend the changes will be able to use them to their advantage. This could mean a lot. Sites that lack certain things will need to be maintained with proper content to maintain rankings and stay competitive.

I do Web Marketing for a living for companies and these new changes create only more work for me because it means there are more variables that many people do not look at such as the path your visitors navigate through your site that ends in a sale. If you can funnel your visitors through a known path that creates a sale your truly golden. However this requires more attention to the smaller details and includes split testing.

In the end it all comes down to evolving with the changes. However i believe GEO targeting will become easier for marketing local business's because of these changes. There is so much that i can talk about and my time is up for now. Back to the 5 to 9 grind.

ahh, I think the user have to be logged into Google for this to happen. And how many people actually logs into Google..?Close to none

I don't think it will change too much, but just enough for us to have to get videos and no scraped content put up on our sites. I was doing that anyway, it seems one of my sites where I changed the scraped content is actually doing better than ever before. I also added videos and it is making a huge difference, so I think google already started changing things, and I think we all started changing to without even realizing it.

I say use unique... BUT also if you use cam*tasia, in the (authors (video options, video info area ))click on the options button, this is where you can add author and copyright info to your video file such as title, subject, category, keywords and description. add keywords to the videos... shhhh... this is my biggest secret.... I add the keywords and google has been loving my sites

stay ahead of the game, my hubby is a seo master and this is just one of the things I do and have always done... most ppl just throw out their vids onto their site... I hope they keep doing this b/c it works in my favor. and now in your favor,

At the end of the day, Google wants to strive to deliver the best search results for their users. I know those of us who have been doing this awhile have heard it a thousand times. With that being said, no matter what they come up with, it will be able to be manipulated. Just pay attention to your stats and evolve as they change.
