Ranking Inner-Page or Homepage?

Just a simple question, when I get SEO done, should I associate the keyword I want ranked with the inner-page of the article or with the homepage? Also how do people even rank a specific keyword? Is it dependent on the anchor text, the keyword density of the article it's linked from, or is it just dependent on the keyword density and title of the article on your site?

Insight would be appreciated, thanks.

Depend upon situation ! In case long term focus on your content

Ranking home page is slightly easier then inner pages so focus on main 2- 3 keywords for home page and you inner pages automatically got some positive SERP .

It depends what keywords you want to rank for. If the inner keywords are about something else, optimize that inner page, and link to that with a different campaign for that targeted keyword.

optimize the page with Keyword inrul,intitle,keyword denstiy, alt text.. and than link to it with the keyword anchor text, but don't over optimize everything.

Oh seriously? My homepage has a constant feed of different articles I write, so I only ask because if I'm going to be ranking my homepage, then it's highly likely that the keywords won't be on the homepage for long. I was wondering if you rank your homepage for certain keywords though, that Google would find the articles meant to be ranked within your site? Which is why I was thinking I should be ranking inner pages instead. How should I know what to rank my homepage for if the articles are constantly changing?

It is the home page that is the strongest page on the site.If i were you,i would make maximum authority to my homepage.

Hi OP,

Website wont stick to no1 position if at least one of its inner page ain't ranking on search engine. Start with the homepage and when website appears on page 1 then start pushing its inner pages.

Think of your homepage as the mother ship and your articles as drones. The homepage needs to be strong to support all the drones.
