Hey Guys!
New here and want to pick your Brains.
If you want to rank a Blog higher in Google would you:
- Create Backlinks to the Root Domain or
- Create Backlinks to the Individual Posts
or idk. Only get Social Signals on the Posts and Backlinks on the root.
What would be your step one?
Its a Lifestyle Blog and I want to rank the Articles themself as high as possible (ofc).

Create backlinks to both with a mix of anchors

both and it really depends on the website structure, internal linking, difficulty of keywords targeted...

Both backlinks are important.
And also create an active social media presence and get social signals this will help you rank higher.

And there is no fixed steps in SEO, it depends on your idea and interest.

For lifestyle blogs, dont do blogging subdomain it will question your authority.

Hope this will help!!
Good luck!!

First, create backlinks for root domain and shares your pages in social media and then finally go for creating backlinks to your individual pages.

This could be my choice too.

+1 for this, also you can do it 60/40 (60% links for root and 40% links for Individual Page or Post)

Diversification of link building is a must. You should build backlinks for both the root domain and pages with different anchor categories.

Domain Authority represents 30% of Google’s ranking algorithm.
As, you can first help Google to find and index your useful content.
Then you can go with both link building that tend to rank higher

Is it documented anywhere?
