Hello everyone,
I'm trying to target people from my country for my website. On google.co.za when you search pages from south africa I'm on the first page for most of my keywords but still not really getting many visitors. I think most people when searching don't search for pages from south africa they searh "the web" instead.

Even though my site is on the first page for a lot of my keyword when I search on google.co.za on "the web" I can't find my site anywhere in the first 100 results.

Does anyone have any tips that could help me? I have about 1000 backlinks and carry on building more every week but it doesn't seem to be helping when it comes to ranking for "the web"

Thanks in advance

I suspect your problem is the content and the on-site seo. If not, your links come from garbage sites.

Agentorange. Would you mind having a quick look at my site? I think my on-site seo is fine but I might be wrong. I will pm your the site if you wouldn't mind looking

Would changing the server my site is hosted on to a south african server would this help?

syek - a client of mine had this problem once because they weren't using a country TLD. We added Google webmaster tools and there is a settings section where you can target visitors from a specific country. After we changed this there was a massive difference in rankings.

I thing regardless where you are google prioritises country of origin...i.e. your site is ranked 1 in your country but ranked 500 in US, this is something i was working on....some key points are ensure your hosting is based locally and not in another country and also your domain name being specific to SA...hope this helps.
